Politics often has peculiarities !! Do elections for a party like Congress resolve its problem or merely re-cycle it ? Foundation of Modi win in 2024 was laid in 2019 .... and the Congress had started its march to debacle

Those who are circulating the theory of 2004 ... vis-a-vis Congress win and a possible Narendra Modi debacle in 2024 ... forget some basics about electoral politics.

The unrealistic assessment comes from ignorance and arrogance. Rahul Gandhi and most of his advisors have that in plenty.

The grand old party, the Congress, had started its march to debacle way back in 2014 but it reached a climax in 2019. Do elections for a party like Congress resolve its problem or merely re-cycle it ?

Our argument here is that the Foundation of 'Modi win' in 2024 was laid in 2019 .....

'brand ambassadors' - Blogger's 2018 book

In 2019, the BJP win was really big and hence to bridge the gap; the Congress needs some miracles or tectonic shifts in Indian politics and that too at multiple stages. In other words, these look impossible - the Modi detractors had simply looked the other side.

Out of 186 seats in 2019 where there was direct contest between BJP and the Congress, the Lotus party had won 170. This cannot be bridged easily as the Congress in 2024 are contesting 'fewer' seats -- straight against the BJP - leaving several constituencies to its INDI alliance partners.

There are some more data references to strengthen the argument we have made in the beginning of this piece.

The saffron party in 2019 had picked up as many as 106 sesats ... where the vctory has been more than 3 lakh votes.

In 44 constituencies, the victory margin stood around 4 lakh votes and more.

There were 210 seats with margin of  2 lakh votes and also 14 seats where the victory margin was more than 5 lakh votes.

So we know, where the Congress stands.

A simple message from electoral battle fields is no party or politician and even analysts should ever try to brush aside the reality. Years back, legendary Nani Palkhivala had pointed out this very aptly:

"The French National Assembly was called the House without Windows because it was totally insulated from reality". Yes the Congress party in India is and surprisingly, the ecosystem and pro-Congress intellectuals, media and analysts tend to encourage the Congress to follow the path under which it is 'more isolated'.

Do not always believe the argument that 'myth' matters more than reality in electoral politics. In order to change things on ground or reality... the Congress banked heavily of Falsehood and Negative Campaigning.

Hence it also banked on cheap populism. It said it will give 'everything' including cash doles. In the process, the Congress and even the opposition INDI alliance politics revolved around POLITICAL TRANQUILIZERS.

Long back, the Congress leaders depended a lot on Loan Melas -- which only damaged the system and basic economic structures both at the central level and also in states.

The opposition will regret the 'delay'  or its policy of no standing vis-a-vis create an alternative face to Modi and also throw a solid challenge to the Prime Minister in Varanasi.

They also did not offer any alternative model of governance.
