If Pakistan split this time ... it could break up into multiple units :: In Focus - Balucshistan, Pok, Sindh, Punjab and also North Pakistan dominated by Pashtuns

(Baloch activist Karima Baloch in 2016 had made a 'Raksha Bandhan appeal' to PM Narendra Modi and sent a Rakhi urging him to become the voice of Balochistan's struggle.)

The partition of India had significant implications for Balochistan. The region was divided between Pakistan and Iran, leading to the emergence of modern-day Pakistani and Iranian Balochistan.

This division continues to shape the political dynamics of the region to this day, says Pakistan government's official website.

The partition based on two-nation theory vis-a-vis religion in 1947 had significant implications for Balochistan. The region was divided between Pakistan and Iran, leading to the emergence of modern-day Pakistani and Iranian Balochistan. This division continues to shape the political dynamics of the region to this day.

"India’s stance on PoK, Gilgit, and Balochistan is grounded in historical, legal, and ethical considerations. The call for reclaiming these territories reflects a commitment to justice, human rights, and the peaceful coexistence of nations," wrote Khubaib Mir for 'Global Kashmir' in January this year.

"As India continues to advocate for the rights of the people in these regions, it contributes to the larger global conversation on democracy, self-determination, and the pursuit of a just and equitable world," he noted.  The article also said, that the people of Gilgit, like their counterparts in PoK, yearn for a future where they can enjoy the benefits of Indian democracy and development.

"Balochistan, a resource-rich province in Pakistan, has witnessed long-standing grievances and human rights violations. India’s support for the Baloch cause is a testament to its commitment to justice and freedom".

Of course, PoK is in news and no less than three key players in India's strategic and security apparatus might have played a big role already. They are India's Defence Minister Rajnath, Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishnakar. Shah has specifically stated that there is a road map for a pro-active approach vis-a-vis reclaiming or ensuring return of PoK into India's fold.

In others words things may get started unfolded sooner than later. Moreover, it has to be appreciated all three Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Dr Jaishankar are part of the Union cabinet on security headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

In 2016, it was a vintage Narendra Modi -- virtually calling spade a spade and he threw  a real-time bomb teaser to Pakistan.

Balochistan hit headlines. Namo hit the jackpot in his Independence Day speech. He has struck where it actually hurts Islamabad and the Sickular jingoists on this side of the border.

There is little to dispute that the UPA government under Manmohan Singh had perhaps done immense “dis-service” to the foreign policy handling and especially in the contest of referring Balochistan in a joint statement with Islamabad.

Dr Singh himself called it a 'bad draft'.

In 1972 G. M. Syed proposed the formation of an independent nation for the Sindhis under the name Sindhudesh. He was the first nationalist politician in Pakistan to call for the independence of Sindh in a Pakistan.

A news item was out across stating that a new Sindhi militant group, the Sindhudesh People’s Army, has recently appeared on the scene.

This was in October, 2022.

The group’s spokesman, Soreh Sindhi, had released a statement claiming that the SPA fighters had targeted a clinic, killing one Chinese man and injuring three others. He stated that his group claimed responsibility for the attack and warned the Chinese government against cooperating with Pakistan, which it said was an occupier of ‘Sindhudesh’. The statement also demanded that China should end its projects in the province.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry had illegally announced the annexation of Kalat’s provinces of Lasbella, Kharan and districts of Makkuran to Pakistan on 17 March 1947. Forcing Mir Ahmed Yar Khan on 27 March 1948 for signing the instrument of accession was the last blow to the centuries old independence of Balochistan that laid down the basis of Baloch armed resistance against Pakistan.

In view of the above mentioned facts it’s very clear that Khan Ahmed Yar’s signature was taken by force. It lacked the free will of the Baloch people.

Jeay Sindh Freedom movement is a pro-independence and anti-Pakistan Sindh based political party struggling for total & complete independence of Sindhudesh from Pakistani occupation.

Chairman Sohail Abro has said : "We believe that Sindhudesh is a historical nation which was shining in the global cultural & economic landscape for thousands of years. Right now, we are occupied by Pakistan, which is founded on the principles of of the two-nation theory.

"The people of Sindh totally reject this mindset. We believe in Vasudhave Kutumbakam. Our only aim is to liberate Sindhudesh from the clutches of Jihadists".

It is worth mentioning that in 2023 alone, the Baloch forces attacked Pakistani army and government installations more than hundred times. In 2024, Pakistan's biggest naval base PNS Siddiqui too was attacked.

The Majeed Brigade of the proscribed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in March this year had claimed responsibility for the attack on the Naval Airbase in Turbat.

Balochistan is the largest region within Pakistan and the area it covers is about 42 per cent geographical area of the entire nation.

Now, notably in June 2022, Imran Khan, the ousted Pakistan Prime Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had said that if the government did not make a good decision, Pakistan could split into three parts because India was ready with its 'plans'.

In an interview with BOL News, the former prime minister, claimed that his  country is on the verge of death if “right decisions” are not made.

Former cricket icon Imran Khan stated that if Pakistan is devastated, it would default, and the international community will pressure Pakistan to 'denuclearize' as Ukraine had to do in the 1990s.

Of course, former Pakistan president Asif All Zardari had then quickly slammed Imran Khan over these comments and said that no Pakistani could talk of tearing the country apart.

“This language is not of a Pakistani but of Modi. Imran Khan’s power is not everything in the world, be brave and learn to stand on your feet and do politics now,” Zardari had said.

In Feb 2024,  former Indian diplomat Kanwal Sibal wrote in 'Indian Defence Review' :

"Leaving aside the hurdles to any genuine democracy in Pakistan that its military represents, the political leaders of Pakistan have vied for power in the country without any genuine democratic convictions.

Imran Khan’s vision of Pakistan is not that of a modern democracy but of an Islamic welfare state based on moral and ethical principles — a Riyasat-i-Madina — that would transform Pakistan.

"As for other leaders, those of PML-N and PPP, they have been in and out of power, in and out of jail .....  Pakistan sees Turkey as a model to emulate, but Turkey itself has moved towards an Islamic state. So, what lesson is there for Pakistan in this?
With this election, the disarray in Pakistan is likely to become worse."

Pakistan itself understands the importance of Balochista strategically this region rest as link between the middle east, central Asia and South Asia.

However, Balochistan has been neglected by Pakistani government always. It lacks developmental projects and especially roads as no adequate or genuine share of the funds were made available by authorities in Islamabad.

Education, railway links and health sector also remain neglected.

The rural poverty in Balochistan has increased manifold over the decades. By 2005, it rose to 56 per cent from a comparatively 21 per cent 1998-99.

One argument is Balocohistan has been long left neglected as the region has a vast tribal population.  Balochistan's demands were also neglected as they do not have adequate number of MPs -- representatives - in Parliament or the National Assembly.

A total of 179 terrorist incidents were recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province of Pakistan till April 30 this year, according to the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), as reported by ARY News.

The report further revealed that 86 times terrorists attacked North Waziristan and 50 times South Waziristan. The report further said that as many as 837 terrorists were taken into custody.
