Political strategist Prashant Kishor has stood firm on his prediction that the BJP under Narendra Modi would repeat its 2019 performance, scoring around 300 seats in this year's Lok Sabha polls.
In a tweet, Kishor even took a swipe at "rattled" detractors, advising them to "stay hydrated" and "keep plenty of water handy on June 4", the day of the counting of votes. Kishor is considered a more credible analyst vis-a-vis poll predictions and in 2021 his prediction on West Bengal polls came true in the ultimate and Mamata Banerjee sailed home comfortably and the BJP could not touch 100 mark.
The prediction of 300 plus numbers for BJP by Prashant Kishore, who has worked in the past with the BJP, the Congress and also Trinamool Congress (in 2021), has certainly rattled the Sickular ecosystem.
The 'discredited' and highly motivated bearded "psephlogists" along with Congress party backers have tried to push the line that the BJP will not touch more than 200 or so. The intent of this discredited lot including a few media stalwarts is to question the EVM and legitimacy of elections 2024 on and after June 4 when the votes will be counted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to return to power rather comfortably and the Congress show may not be so impressive as is being suggested by Jai-rahimology school of social media and other players in Twitter and personalised youtube channels.
Prashant's prediction has upset and to an extent exposed their games.
The 47-year-old political strategist's tweet came hours after a video of his heated exchange with a journalist in a recent interview went viral. Kishor, in the interview, was reminded about two of his poll predictions in the past that went wrong, including "the Congress’s impending electoral rout" in Himachal Pradesh in 2022.
Prashant Kishor vehemently denied having made that prediction, daring the journalist to produce video evidence. As the clip from the interview began circulating on social media, screenshots of his old tweet on Himachal Pradesh also made their way as a counter to the strategist's denial.

In the latest tweet, Kishor also cited his past prediction on the Trinamool Congress sweeping the West Bengal assembly polls in 2021 for good measure.
"PS: Remember, May 2, 2021, and West Bengal!!" he tweeted.
"PS: Remember, May 2, 2021, and West Bengal!!" he tweeted.
Kishor had managed Trinamool Congress's campaign during the 2021 Bengal polls. The Mamata Banerjee-led party retained power with an overwhelming majority, winning 215 of 294 seats.
"Drinking water is good as it keeps both mind and body hydrated. Those who are rattled by my assessment of the outcome of this election must keep plenty of water handy on June 4th. PS: Remember, May 2, 2021, and West Bengal!!" he tweeted.
In an exclusive interview with India Today TV on Wednesday, Prashant Kishor said it was impossible for the BJP to get 370 seats on its own and that the party would get somewhere around 300 seats.
"From the day PM (Narendra) Modi claimed that the BJP would secure 370 seats and the NDA would surpass the 400 mark, I said this was not possible. This is all sloganeering to boost workers' morale. It is impossible for the BJP to get 370 seats, but it is also certain that the party will not fall below the 270 mark.
"I believe the BJP will manage to secure the same number of seats as it did in the previous Lok Sabha elections, which is 303 seats, or perhaps a little more," Kishor said.
Karan Thapar is a well known crusader of Modi bashing club and he wanted to create a trap for Prashant Kishor by stating that the latter had made some predictions about Himachal Pradesh and it did not come true. The intent was to show that even Prashant Kishor's 300 plus prediction for BJP under Namo could fail.
But Prashant handled him well.
Karan Thapar resorted to his Delhi-wallah chalaki way of questioning -- he asked Prashant:
How confident of this (prediction) you are ?
(The intent is to grill a person who is his guest and try to embarrass the interviewee)
Prashant handled the question cool !!
"As confident I could be..."
Karan then says, "In May 2022you predicted that Congress would be routed in Himachal Pradesh? (polls were in November 2022).
Karan went on ... "You are on record...".
This was unpalatable for Prashant, he said, : "Did I .... where..."
And the trouble began !!
Prashant shot back, "You are always trying to create a hypothesis trying to put it on the guest".
Prashant then says, "Show me a video Karan...".
"If you show me a video of me telling that the Congress could be routed in Himachal Pradesh ....hear me, I will quit the job or you apologise publicly on the camera...Show me the video".
As the argument turned heated for a while, Prashant said, "Do not try to intimidate me...I stand by what I say ....
Then Karan tried to stage a drama and said, "Can I continue or you want me to stop".
((( This was the real plan, had Prashant Kishor walked out or stopped that interview -- Karan would have won and the Sickular eco system would have gone all smiles...... )))
"I can deal with you and four like you...," Prashant Ksihor said.
