"The motive of Black Warrant is suspected to be to disturb peace in Jammu and kashmir," says a source. Of course, the Home Ministry has taken cognizance of various complaints against 'Black Warrant'. Otherwise, the web serial ..
seeks to tell multiple stories of a 'massive prison complex' called Tihar.
Of course, capital's well known prison has housed some of India’s most famous and infamous criminals, entertainers, politicians and even serial killers. The show is based on the stories what goes behind !
The efforts have been made cleverly to portray the tales of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhatt.
On 11 February 1984, the 45-year-old Kashmiri Bhat, considered to be architect of Kashmir's first armed rebellion, was sent to gallows inside Tihar.
Decades later in 2013, another Kasmiri terrorist was hanged to death - Afzal Guru.
He was charged with waging war against India and institutions.
The court judgement on Guru’s case mentioned : “...the incident, which resulted in heavy casualties (Parliament attack in 2001) had shaken the entire nation, and the collective conscience of the society will only be satisfied if capital punishment is awarded to the offender".
But the hanging of Afzal carried out during the stint of Congress government had triggered controversies as well.
Firstly, the Congress-led UPA dispensation was accused of hasty secret hanging.
Criticism mounted after Guru’s family said they were not notified that he would be executed in New Delhi.
The execution took place just six days after President Pranab Mukherjee rejected a mercy petition, the last stage of appeal.
Guru’s family were informed about the execution by “express post” which the People’s Union of Civil Liberties (PUCL) called a “shameful explanation.”
“The … hurry with which Afzal Guru was hanged, accompanied by the flouting of all established norms by not giving his family their legal right to meet him before taking him to the gallows, clearly indicates that there were political considerations behind this,” said a statement from PUCL.
Now in 2024 as the stage is set for release of the web series; some conscious citizens have complained to authorities in the Information and Broadcasting ministry as well as Amit Shah-run Home Ministry that -- the real intention of the producers is to "recreate" the disturbed atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir.
The peace in Jammu and Kashmir is already seen as a major achievement of the Modi government and this and also the abrogation of Article 370 have left India's powerful Sickular brigade irked.
Authorities in either of the ministries Home and I&B are not telling much. Observers feel bureaucratic red-tapism and Neta's 'interference and inferences' clauses are at play.
But one source says even the "financial sources" for sponsoring such a work could be examined and some official channels are at job !!
"During this test, the rope broke. These ropes, called “Manila Ropes”, are especially brought from Buxar Jail, Bihar.
The rope had been procured in 2005 when Afzal was sentenced to death. The many years since had eaten away and weakened the rope. At that time, the deputy superintendent of Jail number 3 took the details of Afzal’s height and weight from our records (which are constantly updated) and got another rope made in two days and at a cost of Rs 860 from Bihar." website Scroll ..... should actually make authorities pull up their sleeves.
To be sympathetic to them; it is not Neta-Babu's fault.
They also are part of the victims of one of the basic laws of governance called 'chalta hae'.... These things keep occurring and re-occurring !!

The teaser begins with a young and eager Sunil Gupta, brimming with enthusiasm as he prepares to join Tihar Jail as a policeman. However, he is cautioned that a jailer needs to be tall and bulky to assert authority in front of hardened criminals. His lean frame, he is told, might make him vulnerable in an environment where survival is a challenge. The series offers a compelling and morally charged journey through Asia’s largest prison, Tihar, as seen through the eyes of rookie jailer Sunil Gupta, who confronts some of India’s most infamous offenders. - Ajay Jain, Silchar, Assam
