Jamir and GBs : Playing 'eldest' among the elders !!

Sources said various facets of Naga issues were discussed. The meeting took place at the initiatives of the village elders as the elderly citizens and leaders of the apex Naga body felt the urgency for such a meeting.

"It was a good meeting," veteran Naga leader Jamir merely remarked later.

Among others, GB Federation general secretary Shikuto Zalipu was also present.

Sources said the village elders expressed desire for a lasting and permanent peace in Nagaland and other Naga-dominated areas through a Final Solution.

The village elders spoke about the necessity of a Common Draft that needs to be taken up by the Govt of India and other stakeholders in 2025.

At the meeting, Jamir reportedly told village elders that "nothing can be achieved unless there is a unity of purpose among all Naga groups".

"It is time all past differences should be buried. The Naga issue or Naga movement is one. But now various factions have come up over the decades. That's not normal.

The first normal thing should be to bring a unity of purpose," Jamir told the village elders.

"No one or no faction should do or say anything against any Naga group.

Normal unity is the first thing we all should  ensure and all differences of the past should be buried," Jamir told the GB Federation leaders, sources said.

The GB Federation delegation is likely to meet other key leaders and stakeholders, it is learnt.
