Delhi Police file FIR against Rahul Gandhi ::: In politics everything is politics and gets related to 'Power and Politics' :::: Dalit voters maybe in mind, but BJP has got a new issue and new icon in Ambedkar from Congress backyards .... This is Patel-2

Any kind of protest banned in Parliament premises...

#LokSabha Speaker #OmBirla issues strict instructions that no member/members, group of members or political parties shall hold demonstrations at any of the building gates of Parliament House

Delhi Police file FIR against Rahul Gandhi on complaint over Parliament scuffle

Delhi Police on Thursday (Dec 17) registered an FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, in connection with a scuffle in Parliament.

BJP had filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi under various sections including 109 (attempt to murder), 115 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 117 (voluntary causing grievous hurt), 125 (act of endangering life or personal safety of others), 131 (use of criminal force), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention).

The Delhi Police removed section 109 (attempt to murder) of BNS and all other sections are the same as given in the complaint.

The Delhi Police had also received complaint from Congress which is being “investigated”.

Earlier in the day, BJP leader Anurag Thakur along with fellow MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Hemang Joshi, filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi at the Parliament Street Police Station for “assault and incitement.”

A delegation of Congress MPs, including women MPs, also approached Parliament Street Police Station, accusing BJP leaders of misbehaving with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge during a scuffle in the Parliament premises.

Congress leader Digvijaya Singh accused the BJP of resorting to theatrics to divert attention from remarks made about Dr BR Ambedkar. “It is in BJP’s character to level false allegations.

They (BJP) have orchestrated this ‘natak’ and ‘nautanki’ to counter what they have said about Babasaheb Ambedkar… All this happened due to the confrontationist way of BJP MPs. Mallikarjun Kharge was pushed and misbehaved,” Singh told reporters.

This cartoon shows Nehru and Ambedkar - Does it show "respect" ?

Amit Shah said in Rajya Sabha:

"There's a fashion now of saying 'Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar'. If one takes God's name this many times, one would get into heaven...

"Take Ambedkar's name 100 more times, but I will tell you how you really feel about Ambedkar ji...Now that there are many who follow Ambedkar ji, you invoke his name repeatedly," he added.

The latest row between Congress and the BJP on Ambedkar and his legacy is somewhat like a God-sent opportunity for Amit Shah. He has turned the table.

The BJP has got a new issue and 'new icon' in Ambedkar from the Congress backyards .... This is Sardar Patel-2 -- and already it seems the Congress is battling a lost battle.

It's true; in politics everything is politics and gets related to 'Power and Politics'. Amit Shah knows that pretty well.

That's also ancient wiseman Chanakya would have said !

The all important Dalit voters maybe in mind, but the saffron party leadership has good reasons to expose Congress party's "indifference" and past records of ignoring Dr Ambedkar.

In the words of Krishna Kripalani, Nehru was truly, “an aristocrat in love with the masses, a nationalist who represents the culture of the foreigner”.
But circa 2014 also opens up another can of worms. Were Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel co-equals? Were the one better than the other? Could either have ousted the other?
Noted writer Michael Brecher answers few of these questions in ‘Nehru – A Political Biography’ and says eloquently: “there were differences which set them apart”. While Patel, for instance was “ruthless, practical and blunt in speech and action”;
Nehru was a man of great charm and aesthetically inclined, impulsive and emotional. He also argues: “to the world at large Nehru was, with Gandhi, the symbol of India’s struggle for freedom. Patel never attained this stature….”.

Referring Patel is important now in the context of rise of Narendra Modi and his most trusted aide Amit Shah. It appears in 2024 Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was never a Congressman !

Now this ongoing tussle has given a great opportunity for the BJP to try to claim and show to the Ambedkarites and rest of India and the world that -- 'We care more for Ambedkar...Congress only ignored and insulted him'.

Every BJP man will scream from the rooftop that -- #Nehru took the Bharat Ratna award in 1955 (for himself) when he was in office.

#IndiraGandhi also got it awarded on her during her stint as the PM in 1971.

In contrast, Dr Ambedkar was given the #BharatRatna only in 1990 when V P Singh was the Prime Minister.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh says, “Congress party is the biggest sinner for disrespecting Babasaheb. The whole family took the Bharat Ratna and didn’t give it to Babasaheb… Congress party should fast".

Now little bit of number churning !!

The Dalits, officially referred to as the Scheduled Castes, form 17% of India's population, according to the 2011 Census.

So no pan-India political outfit can ignore them ! But it is true when it comes to Dalits and OBCs, what haunts the saffron party most is the issue of Quota.

In 1990, the V P Singh government lost majority after Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led BJP withdrew support to the National Front - India's first coalition to lead a govenment.

Three issues of utmost concern for Dalit voters are --

- Reservation,

--The SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and

--- The Ambedkar pride. ( B R Ambedkar has the status of a demi-God among his admirers)

In the 2015 Bihar Assembly election, the Opposition bloc used RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's remark on a "social review" of quota benefits to its advantage.

Veteran BJP leader CP Thakur said Bhagwat's remark damaged BJP's prospects in the first two phases of Assembly polls.

The impact of the issue of reservation has been noticed in recent elections.

The Rahul Gandhi-led Opposition campaign, which alleged that the BJP was seeking 400-plus seats to change the Constitution and end reservations, greatly impacted the outcome of the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

The Congress won 20 of the 84 Lok Sabha seats reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates, while its INDIA partners won 33, according to an analysis by The Hindu.

The BJP, on the other hand, won only 29 of the 84 seats in 2024. It had won 46 of the 84 SC-reserved seats in 2019. The NDA won 39 SC-reserved seats, according to the report.

Modi and Advani - Rath Yatra of 1990 - countered Mandal politics of V P Singh

The Modi Govt has been always acting 'smarter' vis-a-vis the Dalits and Reservation matters.

The Supreme Court had in an order on March 20, 2018, "diluted" the Act, leading to pressure on the BJP-led central government to reverse it at the earliest.

While a section of the BJP was of the view that party’s upper-caste vote base would be happy with the SC judgment as it prevented alleged misuse, Modi didn't want to risk Dalit ire.

The Namo government overturned the Supreme Court order through a legislation on August 2 (2018) that year restored the stringent Atrocities Act.
