Children must say "Fortune favours Supongmeren" : AICC leader Rajesh Sethi
Business people are suffering, yet Modi & Rio are silent
New Delhi
The calendar year 2025 is going to be a "great year" for the Congress party, AICC Minority cell leader Rajesh Sethi said and hailing Supongmeren Jamir's win in June 2024 he described the Lok Sabha MP as "a superman".
"We are reviving ourselves from what was the situation in the past. About Supongmeren Jamir, who is also State Pradesh Congress President; I tell my children -- "If you write any sentence with the word 'Fortune'; say -- Fortune favours the brave and cite the example of Shri Supongmeren".

To a question, he said on Sunday- "At the national level, the Wayanad by-election was crucial for us. It was wonderful to listen to Priyanka Gandhi ji in Lok Sabha.... her entry into parliamentary politics has given us a new spirit to fight on. In short, the Congress future is bright".
On Naga peace talks, he said - "As far as Naga Peace talks details are concerned, I leave it to my higher ups. But one thing I would say that before 2015 there were 2 to 3 organisations and now in 2024 we have almost 25-26 organisations which we call undergrounds.
It's very unfortunate but fact is that the most sufferers are business people, contractors and PM Narendra Modi ji and BJP are silent. In Kohima, Chief Minister Mr Neiphiu Rio is just a mute spectator. The Peace process has stopped development".
On Nagaland politics, he said - "Our success in Nagaland was great and for many people, it was unexpected. When Randeep Surjewala ji came to Nagaland during the election campaign, he rightly describedSupongmeren as "Superman".
"The year 2025 is going to be a great year for us. I am personally looking ahead towards 2026 because we have important elections in Assam and Kerala that year. In 2026, we will come to power in both these states. Assam as we all know is under BJP and under its Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has made a long journey backwards," Sethi said.
Sethi, who is AICC in-charge for Minority cell in Manipur, alleged that "the BJP and their Chief Minister N Biren Singh have ruined Manipur... but nobody can say anything to Biren Singh just because India's Home Minister Amit Shah is backing him".
# How was the year 2024 for Congress party? How do you foresee the coming year 2025?
Rajesh Sethi : The 2025 is going to be a great year for us. I am personally looking ahead towards 2026 because we have important elections in Assam and Kerala that year.
In 2026, we will come to power in both these states.
Assam as we all know is under BJP and under its Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the state of Assam has made a long journey backwards. In Kerala, we have to defeat communists and that looks easier than we had the polls in 2021.
# What about 2024?
Rajesh Sethi :
Yes, I am answering your questions. In 2024 we won as many as 99 Lok Sabha seats. We got enough encouragement from India's most populous state of Uttar Pradesh.
We also did well in Rajasthan in the general elections. During parliamentary polls, we did extremely well in Manipur and Nagaland. We snatched three seats from BJP and its partners. The Manipur win were very significant politically. I am AICC Minority Cell in-charge for Manipur. I know what's going on ground.
BJP and their Chief Minister N Biren Singh has ruined Manipur... but nobody can say anything to Biren Singh just because India's Home Minister Amit Shah is backing him.
# How significant was your party candidate Supongmeren Jamir's win in the parliamentary polls?
Rajesh Sethi :
I already said the success in Nagaland was great and for many unexpected. Supongmeren our PCC President came as rightly addressed him Superman by Shri Randeep Surjewala ji during election campaign. We are reviving ourselves from what was the situations in the past.
About Supongmeren Jamir, who is also State Pradesh Congress President; I tell my children -- "If you write any sentence with the word 'Fortune' say -- Fortune favours the brave and cite the example of Shri Supongmeren".
At the national level, the Wayanad by-election was crucial for us. It was wonderful to listen to Priyanka Gandhi ji in Lok Sabha.... her entry into parliamentary politics has given us a new spirit to fight on. In short, the Congress future is bright.

#What is your take on Naga Peace talks ?
In a State like Nagaland only those people are suffering who are "law-abiding". Rest everyone is making money. Biggest business appears to be "Underground". It is sad that in Nagaland, number of Educational Organisations have not increased as much as Underground Organisations. The Medical Set-up has not expanded as much as Underground Set-up. Undergrounds moving around in the Hornbill Festival with his Bodyguard was not surprising to note.
ReplyDeleteBig Contractors are not suffering. They give the share of "Undergrounds & Allies" from the construction cost and not from their own profits. No wonder why the road work in Kohima is seen every Hornbill Festival season.
I asked one of them - You were supposed to be confined to your camps, why are you roaming in the Town? He replied - "We are providing protection to people". I had no words than to burst into laughter. -- One ex military officer who attended Hornbill Festival 2024
