AGP MP Birendra Prasad Baishya says, "She (Phangnon) is an honourable lady member elected from the Northeastern region.
The incident which happened today is an insult to democracy, the elected member of Parliament and the people of the northeastern region.
This assault on her is an assault on the people of the northeastern region. She has written to the Chairman of Rajya Sabha. We strongly condemn this and want strong action."
Phangnon Konyak's letter says:
Hon'ble Sir,
I, S. Phangnon Konyak, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) was participating in a peaceful protest against the atrocities committed by the Congress Party against Hon'ble Dr. Baba Sahib Ambedkar.
I was standing just below the staircase of Makar Dwaar with a placard in my hand.
The Security Personnel had cordoned and created a passage to the entrance right for the moment of Hon'ble MP's of other parties.
"Suddenly, Leader of Opposition, Shri Rahul Gandhi Ji along-with other Party Members came in front of me despite there being a passage created for them. He misbehaved with me in a loud voice and his physical proximity to me was so close that I being a lady member felt extremely uncomfortable."
I stepped aside with heavy heart and denouncing my democratic rights but felt that no Member of Parliament should behave this way.
I belong to the ST community of Nagaland and I am a lady member. My dignity and self-esteem has been deeply hurt by LoP, Shri Rahul Gandhi ji.
Therefore, Hon'ble Chairman sir, I seek your protection."
Both the Houses were adjourned for the day without transacting any business.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju flays Congress MPs and regrets Rahul Gandhi's conduct that allegedly led to the injury of former Minister and BJP MP Pratap Sarangi from Odisha.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh says, "Has it ever happened before that MPs have been hospitalised like this? It can be said that they are trying to create an atmosphere of anarchy...".
BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi sustained a head injury following jostling with INDIA alliance MPs and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi.
Sarangi is now admitted to RML Hospital for medical treatment.
BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi visits injured MP Pratap Sarangi in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi.
She says, "Went to the hospital to know about his condition. Spoke to the doctors. Pray to God -he recovers soon."
Congress MP K Suresh says, "Congress MPs have met the Speaker and submitted a complaint against the BJP MPs. When Rahul Gandhi tried to enter the Parliament, BJP MPs did not let him enter the Parliament...Then he pushed to go to the House...".

Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that BJP MPs pushed him, causing a knee injury, and termed it an attack on his roles as Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, seeking an enquiry.
