This is big !! Ex Supreme Court judge says Mamata should be 'quizzed' on Kolkata rape case ::::: Trinamool MP - an ex Babu writes to Mamata Banerjee: 'Never seen such angst'

This could be big !!

Retired Supreme Court judge Justice Asok Kumar Ganguly demands inclusion of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee within the ambit of investigation

Justice Ganguly has demanded the inclusion of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee within the ambit of investigation in the cases related to the state-run R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

The ill-fated junior doctor became a victim of rape and murder.

Speaking at a protest programme at Shyambazar five-point crossing on Saturday, on behalf of an organization Amra Akranta (We are under attack), Justice Ganguly said that several pieces of evidence have been ''tampered with or destroyed'' in the junior doctor's rape and murder case.

''There had been attempts to offer money to the family members of the victim so that they did not open their mouths. This is a criminal offence.

So in order to steer the investigation in the right direction there is a need for interrogation of the Chief Minister who is also the state police minister and the state health minister," he said.

The prominent among those marches was the one brought out by Durga Vahini, the women’s wing of Vishva Hindu Parishad in the city on Saturday.

West Bengal Junior Doctors Forum has announced a unique protest programme throughout the state on Sunday, that is a day before the crucial hearing on the matter in the Supreme Court where the CBI is supposed to submit its progress report of the investigation into the rape and murder case.

Protest - writing on the wall : "Everything will be remembered"

“In all my years, I have not seen such angst and total no-confidence against the (Mamata) government, even when it says something correct or factual,” says Trinamool leader Jawhar Sircar.

In his letter resigning from the post of Rajya Sabha MP, Trinamool Congress leader Jawhar Sircar cited the "unchecked overbearing attitude of the favoured few and the corrupt" within his own party.

Cry for Justice for RG Kar' alongside the words 'Ami bhoy chhara bacche chai' (I want to live without fear)

Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Jawhar Sircar on Sunday resigned from his parliamentary post in protest of the Bengal government's handling of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a Kolkata hospital and all that ensued in its wake.

Sircar is an ex Babu and has in the past made unreasonable remarks against the BJP. The saffron party need not fall into his trap -- if there is any. The member from 'I am Sorry club knows the art of survival -- even if they are not the fittest.

"I became increasingly disillusioned as the state government seemed quite unconcerned about corruption and the increasing strong-arm tactics of a section of leaders," he wrote.

“I just cannot accept some things, like corrupt officers (or doctors) getting prime and top postings,” Sircar said.

The MP’s resignation follows widespread protests in Bengal, sparked by the brutal rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College Hospital. Sircar said the public outrage reflects growing discontent with the TMC government, which he described as having lost the trust of the people.

But he could have sensed the public mood pretty well too.

“In all my years, I have not seen such angst and total no-confidence against the government, even when it says something correct or factual,” he said.

Expressing his frustration with the government's response to the incident, he said, "I have suffered patiently for a month since the terrible incident at RG Kar Hospital, and was hoping for your direct intervention with the agitating junior doctors, in the old style of Mamata Banerjee.

It has not happened and whatever punitive steps that government is taking now are too little and quite late."

Offering some parting advice, he urged the party to take a non-confrontational approach, stating that the protests are primarily driven by a desire for justice and punishment rather than political motives.

He warned that if the party does not correct its course, "communal forces will capture this state."  (He still remains anti-BJP)

In his letter, Sircar announced his intention to take a step back from politics.

"I express my gratitude again for the opportunity you gave me to raise Bengal's issues in Parliament for three years, but I do not wish to continue as MP at all. My commitment to fight corruption, communalism, and authoritarianism in the Centre and the States is simply non-negotiable," he added.

  1. Think about why Trinamool MP Sircar is resigning? What will he get out of this action? Is he joining any other party? Is he starting his own party? Two more year to go for his Rajya Sabha tenure and above all he states in his letter that he is quitting politics! So what is his motive behind such an action? Most politicians act only when they are getting something out of that action or ED, IT action forcing them to quit! - Vidyarthi Kr.
