"We want Justice ..," -- clamour grows even as Mamata Banerjee makes a pull back after her 'lip-service' about resignation offer !!

There is certainly a growing nervousness and the so-called West Bengal 'tigress' - Mamata Banerjee - who championed her politics with Muslim appeasement along with corruption, syndicates and nexus-administration now finds herself increasingly isolated.

"Ami Manusher sarthey ... emon ki pada-tyag karte o raji achchi (For the benefit of people, I am even willing to step aside)," she had said.

Not many people believed her. She has proved them right. The fact of the matter is she played up the 'resignation' move (sic) only to earn sympathy-- which is not forthcoming thankfully.

Those who know Mamata Banerjee's politics know it pretty well that she also hails from the Congress school of politics -- where resignation is for others. The self politics is guided by power games at any cost.

"We will not stop until the justice is done," screamed a protester on the streets of Kolkata. Many feel the agitation is also guided by common people and especially Hindu community's and middleclass (Bhadrolok) anguish against a dispensation which has been blatantly pro-Muslim.

Her regime saw virtue in everything related to Islamic practice and individuals linked to Muslim community whereas she did everything to show Hindus in poor light.

This protest is therefore culmination of Hindu anger as well.

It is a God-sent issue wherein the Sickular jokers are unable to paint Hindutva colour. For the BJP it is an occasion to strike.

Equally it is an occasion for the Left parties - whom she humbled, humiliated and ousted in 2011 - to take revenge on her. After all, Mamata Banerjee captured West Bengal - the erstwhile communist bastion (Lal Durgo) - by playing up wrong politics and in the process she had deprived the state its much needed journey for industrialisation.

Talking about West Bengal politics, it may be always relevant to compare and contrast Mamata's regime with the Late Jyoti Basu.

The former CM of Bengal and the veteran Marxist hardly encouraged discipline both among people and his cadres.

His cadres were always right for him as long as they brought electoral victory to the party. People were also right as long as they voted for his party the Left Front.

Is Mamata different?

The party work and electioneering became round the year affair in Bengal and there was unleashing of violence of all sorts. The Trinamool gang has continued that without much control from the bloc or district leadership. It's free for all Looteras kind of situation under Mamata. 'Tola baji' is a fact of life.

During the Left regime, the bloodshed never stained Basu's image. He remained the ultimate Bhadralok, like the Queen of Britain, who could never go wrong.

Buddhadev Bhattacharya paid his price and in 2011 was voted out of power. The Chief Minister himself had lost the poll.

Till the RG Kar happened, Mamata could do no wrong! Thanks to Suvendu Adhikari, Mamata was humbled in Nandigram in 2021 assembly polls.

Her drama with a bandaged foot came to her help elsewhere in Bengal.

In the past, Basu's industrialist son Chandan kept on making news and unlike the case of Devilal-Chautala elsewhere - even that did not touch the Marxist veteran reputation.  He remained the ultimate 'Bhadrolok'. Didi too has relatives, but she remained a hawai-chappal leader!

Bhaipo's entry changed that game and now RG Kar protest has forced her cops to increase the height of security barricade around power-hub Nabanna. But enough is enough is the message now.

"We humbly place the issues before your esteemed excellency, as the head of state, so that our unfortunate colleague who has been the victim of the most despicable crime shall receive justice, and so that we, the healthcare professionals under the West Bengal Health Department, may be able to discharge our duties to the public without fear and apprehension," RG Kar Medical College doctors said in a letter to President.

"In this troubling atmosphere of fear, distrust, and hopelessness, junior doctors in West Bengal have been compelled to avoid working within hospital premises and have adopted alternative ways to fulfill our duty of providing healthcare services to the public," the letter continued.

"Your intervention in these trying times will act as a beacon of light to us all, showing us the way ahead out of the darkness that surrounds us," they wrote.

"The horrific nature of the crime, the alleged attempts to cover it up, and the ensuing climate of fear have awakened the nation, demanding an impartial investigation and a prompt, fair, and rational trial," the doctors wrote in the letter.
