Tripura Congress writes to DGP ::: Alleges "perpetrators of crime are either BJP cadres or their relatives" ::::: "Cops also gave indulgence to perpetrators"

Tripura Congress has alleged that the state's law and order situation has  deteriorated "fast" and called for urgent remedial measures.

In a letter to the state DGP, the party said, "In all such cases (of violence) police remained a mute spectator and not in a single case action was taken by the police despite of lodging specific FIR with incriminating documentary evidence. 

"On the contrary the police raided and arrested opposition party workers on the basis of false cases registered against them. The police acted as per the whims and fancy of the BJP party leaders." 

"It is needless to mention about the absolute State of Lawlessness prevailing in our State at present times. Earlier we had witnessed that the opposition party leaders and workers were attacked in broad day light, vandalizing of opposition party offices and vandalizing and looting private properties." 

Such act of omission and commission by your police department is not acceptable in a democratic system," it alleged.

"The Police has not always been a mere spectator but they had also given indulgence to the perpetrators. The sudden spurt in murder, crime and atrocity on women, dowry torture, extortion, mob lynching, and other criminal act has increased alarmingly in the entire state. In most of the cases the perpetrators of crime are either BJP cadres or their relatives."

In the current financial year ie.. from January 2024 to June 2024 as many as 46 (fourty six) murder cases have been reflected in your official website which average out to 8 (eight) murders per month, the letter runs.

"We have got sufficient reasons to believe that many such murders has been registered as UD cases with the motive to bring down the actual data of murders. 

Further the official website of Tripura Police mentions about a total of 1565 IPC cases that have been registered in the 1" half of the current financial year, which gives a very shabby picture of the first deteriorating law and order in the state of Tripura. It is a matter of deep concern that though there has been a spurt in IPC cases but the rate of conviction in such cases is very low."

"Further to add to the worse, the youth of our State is reeling under drugs and contraband items and these drug rackets are being controlled by the BJP leaders and their associates. 

A section of the police is actively involved in running such rackets which is also known to you but you are deternode and accountability When the police force of Te system is unable to consistently apprehend, prosecute and purvish law breakers, it reduces the perceived risks a of unlawful action, thereby encourage the criminals and law breakers to commit further crime sks and consequence

We we urge you to take appropriate measures to combat demand that all the police posting and transfers under your discretion and based on track record and not und section of the State police who are in charge is truly done not under the influence of the BJP.
