"Will think twice before giving tickets to Muslims", says Mayawati :::::: Kashmir deals a blow to former CMs Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti

UP Minister and BJP leader Dinesh Pratap Singh says, "This is a time for serious introspection for the BJP and party workers like me... We built the Ram Temple after 500 years of wait and huge airports and railway stations.

An illusion has been created among the people, we will clear that illusion and create an environment in the favour of the BJP...".

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati has said that Muslims had failed to understand her party even though it had been giving the community adequate representation. In a statement, the BSP President said that in future she would think twice before giving tickets to Muslims so that her party does not have to suffer losses like it did this time.

She said that Dalits had played a crucial role in ensuring better performance of the BSP in the polls. She thanked her community for their continued support.

She pledged to continue working towards the mission of Dr B R Ambedkar and fulfilling his ideological goals. Mayawati further said that the inclement weather conditions and extreme heat had adversely impacted the voting percentage.

“The Election Commission should ensure in future that these aspects are kept in mind while finalising dates for polls,” she said.  The BSP President stressed that the election process should not be stretched for long since it has an adverse impact on the voter’s mindset.

Kashmir deals a blow to former CMs Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti

The first major election in Jammu and Kashmir after the 2019 abrogation of Article 370 eroded the reputation of some of the stalwarts of Kashmir politics.

Though the BJP retained its Jammu stronghold and the parties opposed to it won handsomely in Kashmir, the highlight was two former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti and an aspiring CM Sajad Lone suffering humiliating defeats.

Omar and Sajad lost by over two lakh votes each in Baramulla to jailed politician Sheikh Abdul Rashid aka Engineer Rashid. His victory is seen as an insult to Delhi, a damning verdict against its "all-is-well" narrative in Kashmir.

Ms Mehbooba was defeated by NC veteran Mian Altaf Ahmad in Anantnag-Rajouri by nearly three lakh votes.

In Kerala, where the BJP tried to get a foothold for over half a century, the party has certainly improved its vote tally, as it has done across the country. Its film actor candidate Suresh Gopi won in the Trissur constituency, making it the Hindu party's first parliamentary seat in the state.

"It is believed that his victory was helped by elements of the various church groups in this traditional stronghold of the religion," runs an article in Catholic website UCAN.
