Challenges are multiple -- Job scenario is a crucial one :::: What about Modi's inclusive policy for welfare measures and big ticket infra projects .... Propaganda swayed Minorities ,,, but as it is they hated Modi

Job scenario is affected nationwide due to multiple factors. Fiscal pressures, competition (in the case of state-owned enterprises) and also technological advances. The fact is there have been 'obstacles' in filling vacancies. There are certain inherent problems like leaked papers and judicial stay orders.

At the same time, Indians have mega identity issues at all levels. Talent, hard work and innovation do no matter. Identities matter. Reservation and quota raj are seen as legitimate mechanisms -- and here to stay 'permanently'.

Muslims and Christians are rejoicing that Narendra Modi has been taught a lesson and his pet project 'Hindu first plan' has been given a jolt. Now, that's sickularism/secularism.

But Hindus forgot Ram temple. They forgot civilisational achievement after 500 years. In Uttar Pradesh, the general improvement in law and order and in West Bengal recovery of huge cash and 'established' goondaism and corruption did not matter. Hatred towards Modi mattered.

Foreign media too rejoiced.

"All those who have resisted Mr Modi’s encroachment on India’s institutions and democratic, secular traditions – courageous activists, journalists, lawyers and the voters themselves – should be applauded. They have given democracy a second chance. It must now be seized," says London's prestigious newspaper 'The Guardian'.

But nowhere it is being debated how identity politics actually do not work in long term in national interest.

The vote 2024 - one is afraid - is taking India back into the lap of caste politics, it almost legitimises gross corruption in West Bengal provided Muslims endorse the political system. In the north east, the verdict was influenced by the hands of God.

Improved roads, new bridges do not matter.

What mattered is Modi's continuation has posed challenges to those who loved the 'old status quo' -- where payments could be made for works done in heaven.

"There is no bigger lie that politicians peddle than the promise that more government jobs along with higher reservations will somehow solve the employment problem .....," says an article in 'Indian Express'.

I know of government officials who are displeased with the Narendra Modi regime as they are unable to ensure jobs for their kids in government departments.

So why should they vote for Modi in the name of Ram or improved airports. I know of relatives who say what is the use of good roads and airports if their children do not get jobs -- please read government jobs -- through jugadu channels and 'preferably home posting'.

Nepotism is not only a buzzword in Bollywood. It is everywhere.

Dalits and tribal people came to vote against Modi’s BJP, which ended up with a reduced majority in the 543-member lower house of parliament for the first time in 10 years.

In the 2024 polls, the BJP won 55 seats out of the total 131 reserved seats for Dalits and tribal peoples, which saw social justice and reservations take center stage.

In the 2019 general election, 77 reserved seats favored Modi’s ultranationalist party. Dalits and tribal people then figured prominently as an essential cog in the RSS-BJP’s polarization plan against Muslims.

But this time, the BJP lost 19 Dalit seats where it had incumbent lawmakers in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka, Bihar, Punjab and West Bengal, besides ten tribal seats in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Rajasthan and West Bengal, says an article in UCA News website.

The competitive pressures on more welfare for votes was in sharp contrast to the virtual absence of attempts to grapple with the core question on how to build competitive advantage to attract the investments needed to create jobs.

Some countries (like Germany) have tried to build a workforce with strong technical skills. Others (like Singapore) have built their competitive advantage on the “ease of doing business”.

China has done so by building excellent infrastructure. The US and Switzerland have built theirs on strong national innovation systems. What about India?
