 INDIAN ARMY COMMEMORATES CAPT N KENGURUSE MEMORIAL DAY. 


IT WAS ON THIS DAY (June 28th, 1999) 25 YEARS AGO THAT CAPT N KENGURUSE MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN LINE OF HIS DUTY DURING THD KARGIL CONFLICT.

FOR HIS VALOUR HE WAS AWARDED THE  MAHA VIR CHAKRA (SECOND HIGHEST GALLANTRY AWARD). HIS PARENTS WERE ALSO FELICITATED BY GOVERNOR OF NAGALAND LA GANESAN





Indian Army Commemorates Capt Kenguruse Memorial Day in Nagaland


Phezha Village, Nagaland, June 28, 2024 – Indian Army commemorated Capt Kenguruse Memorial Day on 28 June 24 at Kenguruse War Memorial in Phezha village, Kohima, Nagaland.


Paying respects to the Braveheart, Hon’ble Governor of Nagaland, Shri La Ganesan, Lt Gen Harjinder Singh Sahi, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM General Officer Commanding Spear Corps laid wreaths and paid rich tributes to the valiant soldier. The Hon’ble Governor also lighted the torch of “Amar Jyoti” at the War memorial and felicitated the parents of Capt N Kenguruse,MVC (P) who were present at the venue. 

IGAR Maj Gen Manish Kumar also attended the solemn function.



On 28 June 1999, Capt N Kenguruse made the supreme sacrifice for the nation during the Kargil War. In honour of his unparalleled bravery, Capt N Kenguruse was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, India’s second-highest gallantry award. Today’s commemoration marks the 25th anniversary of India’s Kargil War victory, a testament to the enduring legacy of Capt N Kenguruse and the countless other heroes who fought for India's honour.


Speaking at the occasion Hon’ble Governor said that "Today, we stand united in our respect and admiration for Capt Kenguruse. His actions during the Kargil War exemplify the courage and patriotism of the people of Nagaland. 

We are proud of his legacy and will ensure that it continues to inspire future generations ".





Ex-Servicemen, civilians and children attending the event, pledged themselves to rededicate to the values of service and courage embodied by Capt N Kenguruse.


Capt Kenguruse Memorial Day serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our armed forces in defence of the nation. As we honour the memory of Capt N Kengueuse, MVC, (P), his actions during the Kargil War stand as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Indian soldier. The bravery and sacrifice of Capt N Kenguruse continues to inspire, lighting the path for future generations with the flame of patriotism.
