CPI-M Rajyasabha MP, John Brittas, is now facing the heat of Hindu ire in Kerala over his remarks on Mahakumbha Mela.
Brittas told Malayalam media that while China is emerging with Artificial Intelligence (AI); India is sinking in Kumbhmela.
Derogatory remarks against Mahakumbha invited angry reactions from Sangh Parivar leaders in Kerala. Bjp State Vice President Sobha Surendran advised Brittas to get Chinese citizenship if he is so fond of China.
Sobha Surendran reminded Brittas of a wikileaks report against Brittas which allegedly "exposed" him.
Hindu Aikyavedi leader Sasikala also reacted in the same manner. The Marxists in last two decades or so have excelled in speaking out against Hindu majority and Hindu culture and tradition.
Paradoxically, Kerala watchers say the CPI-M was original 'Hindu party' of Kerala and in West Bengal too, the Marxists veterans had a beeline of upper caste Hindus and mostly Brahmins.
However, by 1990s the party - which also heads the Left Front partners in the national level and also in Kerala and West Bengal - had developed an extra ordinary weakness for Muslim appeasement.
Their 'virtue' proved too costly when Mamata Banerjee over the Muslims and turned the table against the communists in 2011.
The CPI-M also lost power in Tripura in 2018 but here the gainer was the BJP.
