A crucial consultative meeting suggested that the two groups holding dialogue for Naga solution-NSCN(I-M) and Working Committee (WC), Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs)-should publish a single document or common draft of the mutually agreed agreements: Framework Agreement (FA) and Agreed Position (AP)- and approach the government of India in order to avoid any confusion over the final solution.
This appeal was part of six-point resolution adopted at a consultative meeting held in Chümoukedima district on February 4, 2025 that was attended by leaders of NH, NGBF and SCAN.
NGBF through its media cell, informed that the consultative was marked by “thoughtful discussions” and passionate appeals for unity, cooperation, and commitment within the Naga community while keeping the focus on the Naga political issue.
At the meeting, the house acknowledged that Naga people were yearning for an early political solution. Therefore, the house maintained that the negotiating parties should earnestly heed this call and arrive at a political solution that was honourable, inclusive, transparent and acceptable to the people.
The house also appealed to all sections of Naga society to make further efforts towards strengthening unity and oneness in order to “bring all stakeholders of the peace process under a spirit of understanding.”
The consultative meeting also resolved that the “cry for reconciliation and unity within the Naga family must be respected”. In this regard, the house maintained the “effort for all the Naga political groups to come together should be pursued with all seriousness in the larger political interest of the Naga people and her posterity”.
Importantly, the house “urgently” appealed to the Government of India to uphold the Free Movement Regime (FMR) agreement with Myanmar.
The house maintained that abrogating the FMR agreement would put the Indian government in violation of international law and of the basic human rights of Naga civilian to move freely in their homeland.
