Politics is all about learning and re-learning.
India's grand old party seems to have take a "lesson" from the humbling in the national capital apparently.
Even otherwise when it comes to certain critical issues - the Congress and the BJP "sail together" often as Trinamool Congress leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay had said once.
Dr Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister had banked on Atal Bihari Vajpayee for BJP's support for the Nuke deal. L K Advani mishandled the entire show and paid a heavy price in 2009.
In 2014 when the state of Telangana was created - both the Congress and the BJP voted together. Sushma Swaraj as the Leader of the Opposition even said -- "If Sonia is today like Amma (mother) in giving Telangana state, I am playing the role of a benevolent Mosi Chen-amma (aunt)".
Now as the Delhi mandate came and the Congress score was again - zero -- an hat-trick -- a section of Congress leaders indicated that if the Modi Govt comes with any final agreement vis-a-vis the Naga issue; the principal Opposition party will back such a move.
Importantly, there was also a great revealing that a 'very top leader' told some Naga leaders leaders lately: "Who will give you Constitution.... and Flag?".
On any broad agreement between the Centre and the Naga rebels and other stakeholders in Naga inhabited areas and Nagaland state.... we will support the BJP"
This statement would make the Status Quo Club in Nagaland and parts of Manipur "uneasy".
It is also understood that some Naga leaders have met important Congress leaders including party president Malikarjun Kharge.
Another important Congress leader and a former Minister also reportedly told the Naga leaders -- that Sovereignty and a separate Constitution were never in discussion between New Delhi and the Naga underground groups.

Amit Shah and Nagaland Cabinet : Often 'not made for each other ?'

The central government have inked two preliminary pacts the Framework Agreement with the NSCN-IM on Aug 3, 2015 and the Agreed Position with NNPG on Nov 17, 2017.
The peace talks between the NSCN-IM and the centre started in 1997 during the stint of I K Gujral as the Prime Minister. The centre has stated more than once that the parleys on the Naga political issue has concluded in October 2019.
However, the final peace pact has been stalled because the NSCN-IM raised the bogies of a separate Flag and Naga Constitution.
Both the demands have been rejected by the centre.
On the role of Naga Gaon Burras (village elders), PM Narendra Modi had said "When I had invited the Gaon Burras to my home in (Feb 2023) Delhi and welcomed them, they had blessed me....
They blessed me so much and today also (aaj bhi) they have been continuing to bless me".
Social activist Theja Therieh had then said: "The fact of the matter is the Prime Minister made his remarks on Naga village elders deliberately and with a purpose. The GBs had played a pioneer role along with Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) to formalise the setting up of the Nagaland National Political Groups (NNPGs) in 2017 and that gave birth to the Agreed Position and Status Paper."
The GB Federation has again set the ball rolling and this has made anti-Solution brigade nervous and understandably so.
Recently, some protagonists of Status Quo club and 'extended hands' met Opposition MPs of Rajya Sabha virtually misguiding them on the Naga issue.
A number of prominent opposition MPs including from Trinamool Congress, RJD and DMK signed a letter addressed to Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded appointment of a new interlocutor.
The statement also ignored the Agreed Position and glorified the Framework Agreement of 2015.
"How do Indian Opposition MPs say elected representatives want to play a role when Chief Minister and his team were given enough chance and tasked to convince NSC-IM stalwart Thuingaleng Muivah. But they did not as they had vested interests," said an important social worker.
