All Naga factional leaders ought to 'sail together' ... This sentiment stands strong :::: "need to expedite resolving Naga issue in a broad-based manner without excluding any stakeholders"

It is yet another crucial statement and it must be welcomed.

WC,NNPG MET GoI REPRESENTATIVE A K MISHRA and his team AT DIMAPUR

The W/C, NNPG led by Convener M B Neokpao, Working Conveners P Tikhak Naga and Isak Sumi along with all the leaders of the Working Committee met the Govt of India representatives headed by A K Mishra, Advisor NE, Ministry of Home Affairs at Dimapur on Feb 20th, Thursday.

Mishra is also negotiating with all Naga underground factions and others concerned to finalise the final pact.

The centre has signed two preliminary agreements Framework Agreement (2015) and the Agreed Position (2017) with NSCN-IM and the NNPG respectively.

According to a statement from the Media Cell of the NNPG; "The W/C leaders apprised the central leaders (representatives) on recent developments and also the need for an early consolidated and inclusive political solution to Indo-Naga conflict.

"The meeting also discussed on developing political consensus among Naga political groups and stakeholders so as to expedite resolving the issue in a broad-based manner without excluding any stakeholders," it said.

The ongoing efforts by various Naga civil society organizations to bring unanimity among conflicting NPGs has also been reviewed.

Further, the house stressed on the need to maintain consistency and continuity of the process with patience, commitment and clarity until the logical conclusion of the issue, the Media Cell added.

Among others Ato Kilonser of NSCN-U Alezo Venuh also attended.

On Feb 18th a significant statement was made after a crucial meeting.

Representatives of various Naga tribes came together (Feb 18) in "solidarity to express" in one accord the urgent necessity for all Naga Political Groups to come together in unity and cooperation.

The statement from the organisers said - "We recognize and appreciate the constructive steps taken through the January 14, 2025 Treatise. Therefore, in cognizance of this significant breakthrough, the representatives resolve:

** "Naga Political Groups must listen to the voice of the people and without exception all efforts must be taken to ensure Naga unity in the spirit of oneness."

Hence Mishra's visit to the state and two-day long interactions with various stakeholders must be seen as a positive development.

Some members of the civil society and a few important leaders also met Mishra, sources said.

Earlier this month, this blogger had interviewed NSCN-U president Neokpao Konyak, who is also the new convener of  the NNPG.

He lamented that :

"Whether it's Naga tribal color at work or the one organisation and few CSOs trying hard to blur the Agreed Position with wholesome praise for Framework Agreement is something Nagas need to carefully analyse.," he said.

These bring us back to square one. That means the elected Nagaland Government in Kohima will have to play a role.
