Assam Rifles under Spear Corps at Rangapahar in coordination with Manipur Govt and other forces facilitated voluntary surrender of 16 weapons in Churachandpur.
The surrendered weapons comprise one M-16 Rifle, one.7.62 mm SLR, two AK Rifles, three INSAS Rifles, two M-79 40mm Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), one 9mm Carbine Machine Gun, one 51 mm Mortar, three .303 Rifles, two Single Barrel Rifles, ammunition and war like stores.
Weapons have also been handed over to Manipur police in Kakching.
Post the appeal, of Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla to members of all communities to surrender weapons within seven days, Assam Rifles along with Manipur Police, CRPF, state intelligence agencies and state administration organised a series of meetings with local community leaders and all stakeholders.
The discussions resulted in *voluntary surrender of 16 weapons, ammunition and war like stores in Churachandpur*, in presence of senior officials of Assam Rifles, CRPF, civil administration, Police and State Intelligence Agencies.
