"Maharashtra is a shining star of Viksit Bharat"..... "Indian youth is now working in India instead of moving abroad," says PM Modi ::::: "We are strengthening and making stricter laws for crime against women"

Indian youth is now working in India instead of moving abroad for higher education, and emerging as young entreprenuers in different fields, and to see them shine specifically in space and sciences is a vision, said PM Narendra Modi in his monthly Mann-Ki-Baat programme in interaction with the founders of startup GalaxEye.

"I had the opportunity to go to IIT Madras last year, on the occassion of the institution's annual convocation ceremony. IITs are undoutedly one of the most prominent educational institutes in the country, and it is good to see that such talented individuals are emerging from there," Modi stated.

On 23rd August, the nation marked the first National Space Day, celebrating the success of Chandrayaan-3. Last year, on this day, Chandrayaan-3 had made a successful landing on the southern part of the moon at the Shiv-Shakti point, PM Modi stated.

"This year from Red Fort, I have urged one Lakh Youth who are not from a Political background to connect with the political system. This point of mine has garnered tremendous response.

We thus come to know that a large number of our youth are eagerly ready to enter politics. All they are looking for is the right opportunity and apt guidance, Modi said.

Speaking at the Lakhpati Didi event in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon, PM Modi addressed the recent nationwide outrage over cases like the Kolkata doctor's rape and murder, the Badlapur school sex abuse case, and the Assam gangrape.

"We are strengthening and making stricter laws for criminals who commit sins against women," the Prime Minister said.

"The new laws have provision for death penalty and life imprisonment for sexual crimes against minors. There have been many cases of cheating in the name of marriage with daughters. Earlier, there was no clear law for this.

"Now false promises of marriage and deception have also been clearly defined in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. I assure you, the central government is with the state governments in every way to stop atrocities against women. We will have to stop only after eradicating this mentality from Indian society."

"Therefore, today India is moving ahead on the path of development and Maharashtra has a very big role in it. Maharashtra is a shining star of Viksit Bharat...".

PM Modi highlighted the government's efforts to enhance legal frameworks and enforcement mechanisms, including the introduction of amendments to existing laws and the creation of new systems to make justice more accessible to victims.

“Earlier, there were complaints that FIRs were not filed. We brought the BNS [Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita] and made a lot of amendments,” he said. “If a woman does not want to go to the police station, she can file an e-FIR. Nobody can change or tamper with an e-FIR.”

On the issue of crimes against women post-marriage, PM Modi noted that his government has introduced specific amendments to the BNS to address such concerns. He assured that the central government stands firmly with state governments in tackling crimes against women.

The Prime Minister was in Jalgaon to interact with ‘Lakhpati Didis,’ women members of self-help groups who have achieved an annual income of Rs 1 lakh.

During the event, PM Modi felicitated 11 lakh new Lakhpati Didis and disbursed bank loans totalling Rs 5,000 crore, benefiting 25.8 lakh members of 2.35 lakh self-help groups (SHGs).

Since the inception of the Lakhpati Didi scheme, one crore women have joined the initiative, with the government setting an ambitious target to make 3 crore women Lakhpati Didis, news agency PTI reported.

Lauding the Eknath Shinde dispensation’s focus on empowering women and fostering economic growth, PM Modi remarked, “Mahayuti government means a government for development.

In the 113th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat', Prime Minister Narendra Modi says "You must have seen many films on the love between humans and animals! But a real story is being made these days in Assam.

In the small village of Barekuri in the Tinsukia district of Assam, people of Moran community live and in this village live 'Hoolock Gibbon', which is called 'Holo Bandar' here. Hoolock Gibbons have made their home in this village. You will be surprised to know - the people of this village have a very deep connection with Hoolock Gibbon.

The people of the village still follow their traditional values. Therefore, they did all those things which would strengthen their relationship with the gibbons. When they realized that the gibbons love bananas, they also started cultivating bananas.

Apart from this, they decided to perform the rituals related to the birth and death of the gibbons just like they do for their own people."

Kiren Rijiju's 'bal budhi' jab at Rahul Gandhi over 'no SC/ST in Miss India' remark

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticised Rahul Gandhi's statement where the latter said that there was no woman belonging to the Dalit, Tribal or OBC communities in the Miss India beauty pageant.

The Union Minister, in a post on X, said, "Now, he wants reservations in Miss India competitions, films, sports! It is not only an issue of 'Bal Budhi' (childish mentality), but the people who cheer him are equally responsible too!"

He further said that “while childish behaviour might be entertaining, it should not come at the expense of ridiculing or undermining the backward communities through divisive tactics”.
