Ghosts of Nandigram and Singur haunt 'aapa' !! Mamata facing anger of Ma and Manush ::::: Governor calls her 'Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde"

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has blasted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, saying “she was behaving like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”.

West Bengal BJP President and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said,
"We have told the TMC's police that as long as we are here, they will not arrest any woman, we will not let any woman be harmed... Atrocities against women must stop. Mamata Banerjee does not need permission for a rally but when the BJP goes to do something then permission is needed, all the rules are only for the BJP...

"Police Commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal should immediately resign from his post... Such a person cannot be the Kolkata Police Commissioner, he should take responsibility for this incident and resign."

BJP leader Smriti Irani says, "... Rapists are carefree but the protesters are being attacked by a mob. How is it possible that a group of hooligans are in the state and the police do not know about it?

How is it possible that they enter and vandalise the hospital and media reports say that they vandalise those that could be part of the evidence?...The question is will the girl get justice or not?"

The protests over the rape-murder of a trainee doctor at a Kolkata medical college has pushed Trinamool supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee into a corner.

The protests, by citizens and political parties alike, are unprecedented. And her Gimmick Department is running short of Tricks !!

BJP leader Smriti Irani says, "Does the CM of Bengal want to ensure that investigations are not completed in totality? Why is she in a hurry knowing that these questions are still unanswered?..."

A sea of women protesters took to Kolkata's streets.

The mishandling of the case has fuelled public outrage across India, with people criticising the state government's response. Thousands of people from all walks of life took to the streets for a midnight vigil demanding justice for the victim in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Candle marches were taken out in cities, including in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

The "City of Joy' - well it should be called a City of Crime Against Women and West Bengal sate are now bracing for a tense situation with a potential shutdown on the horizon, as CM Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress and opposition parties BJP and CPM plan separate protests focused on RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

The recent rape and murder of a postgraduate resident doctor on August 9 has triggered national outrage.

So far, Kolkata police have arrested 19 people in connection with the vandalism at RG Kar Hospital, while the IMA has announced a 24-hour closure of non-emergency services.

The CBI probe has begun.

"We are not shielding anyone, and police tried to be as transparent as possible in our probe. We have handed over all evidence related to the case to the CBI. Have faith in the central probe agency," Kolkata's city police commissioner Vineet Goyal said.

Talking about registering the death as an unnatural death, he said that it did not mean police wanted to "label the crime as suicide".

"That's a standard practice followed by all investigation agencies in the country. We went by the book. There was no attempt to call the crime a 'suicide' as being erroneously reported from certain quarters. The police never called it a 'suicide'," he said.

West Bengal governor CV Ananda Bose says:

"Whatever happened in RG college is very disturbing, shocking and shameful...people are disappointed... There has been an attempt to tamper with evidence or destroy evidence, people also feel that there has been a deliberate attempt to mislead them to give the impression that it was a suicide. The issue has been handled very poorly by the authorities.

People have the right to know the truth. I went to the spot yesterday, people are just demanding justice, the whole society is with them, we have to give them justice," he said.

BJP demands Mamata Banerjee's resignation, says law and order deteriorating in state

At a press conference held at the state BJP office, national spokesperson Shazia Ilmi suggested that the competent authorities should consider implementing President's rule in West Bengal.

"Women's safety is under threat, and the law and order situation in West Bengal has deteriorated. The competent authorities should decide on imposing the President's rule in the state," she said.

Additional CP Murlidhar Sharma:

"Regarding suicide, commissioner has already informed that Kolkata Police did not tell the family that it was suicide and the family had reconfirmed it. They shared the information with us about who told them this. Since, it is a part of the investigation, I will not speak on that.

Regarding unnatural death, the Commissioner said that unnatural death does not mean it is a suicide.

Unnatural death can happen in the case of an accident, violent crime, homicide, animal hit or snake...Whenever a complaint is given after delay, a case of unnatural death is registered.

If in the post-mortem it is mentioned that a criminal offence has taken place then it is converted into an FIR. Police in every state adopts it. I don't know why a controversy is being created about this thing," he said.

Indian Medical Association (IMA) demands central law and to declare the hospitals as safe zones with mandatory security entitlements

IMA has declared 24-hour withdrawal of services by all the modern medicine doctors of the country irrespective of the sector and place of work. Emergencies and casualties will function. No OPDs. No elective surgeries. The withdrawal commences at 6 am on Saturday 17th August 2024 and ends at 6 am on Sunday 18th August 2024.
