BJP releases revised list for J&K elections, names 15 candidates for first phase

Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election 2024:

The party has also fielded only one woman candidate, Shagun Parihar, who will contest from Kishtwar.

Three prominent names are missing from the list -- Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina, and former Deputy Chief Ministers Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta.

The BJP released a 'revised' list of 15 candidates for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election.

This comes after the party withdrew its initial list for amendments as several senior BJP leaders were unhappy with the list.

One Kashmiri Pandit has been nominated from the Kashmir Valley: Vir Saraf from Anantnag East-Shangus, marking a significant outreach to the Pandit community.

15 BJP candidates:

Er. Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi Pampore

Arshid Bhat Rajpora

Javed Ahmad Qadri Shopian

Mohd. Rafiq Wani Anantnag West

Advocate Syed Wazahat Anantnag

Sofi Yousuf Srigufwara–Bijbehara

Veer Saraf Shangus–Anantnag East

Tariq Keen Inderwal

Shagun Parihar Kishtwar

Sunil Sharma Padder–Nagseni

Daleep Singh Parihar Bhadarwah

Gajay Singh Rana Doda

Shakti Raj Parihar Doda West

Rakesh Thakur Ramban

Salim Bhat Banihal

Earlier before deleting the list, the party fielded 15 candidates for the first phase (September 18), 10 candidates for the second phase (September 25), and 19 candidates for the third phase (October 1).

That means changes are likely in the list for two other phases of polling as well.
