Rahul Gandhi's and Sickularism Toolkit gang has many reasons to feel Frustrated : Bangladesh crisis and 'subsequent developments' could be a fe major ones

Nothing seems to work for the detractors of Narendra Modi and chief among them is Rahul Gandhi. The opposition and the Sickularism ecosystem are unable to come to terms that nothing is actually working against Modi.

All efforts and all the king's horses and George Soros ploys etc etc only helped in reducing BJP's numbers in Lok Sabha. Nothing else.

Modi is back again as the Prime Minister and none of his actions in terms of policy matters is displaying or exposing any nervousness. Things could be challenging but he is taking them head on.

Modi's equation with Putin has left Washington aggrieved !!

Bangladesh developments are showing that he is mentally a tough nut who can always work hard according to plans to turn the challenges into opportunities. When it came to Ukraine; he embraced Russia and showed that while he would advise Vladimir Putin to realise that this is not an era of war; he would - however- not take any dictation from the US.

Now comes Bangladesh !! Just when Pakistan was rejoicing the moments of statues of Mujibur Rahman being destroyed, a known US confidant Mohammad Yunus - the new ruler of Bangladesh (on the face value) has been compelled to woo Hindus. After five decades if not more Bangladeshi Hindus are showing the guts to come out to the streets.

And they will not be able to do so without banking on India and its well known 'religious' Hindu-Hridaysamrat called Narendra Modi.

Undoubtedly, the national interests always determine a country’s foreign policy. India’s handling of countries like Bangladesh or Nepal and also Sri Lanka must bebetter understood in that perspective.

Supply chains, petroleum, power and roads infrastructure and financial support base and support are key to promoting own country's interests in the neighbourhood.  These investments are something even Bangladesh cannot ignore or overlook. New Delhi is sure these play "stabilising factors" during the ongoing crisis in Dhaka.

Any new dispensation in Dhaka -- interim or a permanent one after possible elections will need to ensure effective trade and economic ties with New Delhi.

Take the example of Sri Lanka and its crisis in 2022. India made full use of the conditions and jumped to bail out Colombo at the right time. New Delhi helped out with liquidity on crucial occasion. Sri Lanka's inflation which stood at 67 plus in August-September 2022 is now below three. Any sensible analyst in Dhaka will appreciate these.

It goes without saying that in recent years, China has accelerated efforts to expand influence over various South Asian countries from Nepal to Sri Lanka to Myanmar. Bangladesh will do good to itself if they take note of these.

High level governmental visits between Beijing and other capitals have been reinforced by financial largess, conveying that Beijing’s overtures are not mere lip-service. China has made it amply clear that its robust diplomatic engagements with these countries are actually only intended to elevate Sino influence to a new plane.

Sri Lanka was an instance where it was found that engagements with Beijing could be risky. India that way is a sober and democratic establishment. In principle it stands by the ancient wisdom of Vasudeva Kutumbakam and hence is not considered a threat to any smaller nation.

This perception itself is a big advantage.

Moreover, even the US will realise that if it confronts with India's interests in South Asia or even in Bangladesh in particular, it could help Chinese cause. Hence too much antagonism against "Modi's friend" Sheikh Hasina too need not be a wise proposition.

Hence came a statement.

"We have had no involvement at all. Any reports or rumors that the United States government was involved in these events are simply false," White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said at a press briefing when asked about reported claims of U.S. involvement.

"This is a choice for and by the Bangladeshi people. We believe that the Bangladeshi people should determine the future of the Bangladeshi government, and that's where we stand." the White House added. Modi has got a chance to consolidate India's position amid crisis. But he has to handle it with right balance between all interests.

The diplomatic engine room of Team Modi should do a proper assessment. That the Hindus showed guts to take to streets is by itself a major achievement of Moditva doctrine. Modi's detractors may get ready for a few more shocks.

  1. I believe now Bangladeshi Hindu should not get confused with the double edged Yonus move and stop the protest. Infact Hindus should demand for Hasina Sheikh govt back in power and accept it as apology.
All other demands to be discussed only with the Awami league party only as they proved that they had ensured better governance. -- Rajat Kumar, Rajasthan
