Even DMK workers wouldn't praise Karunanidhi like Rajnath Singh did: MK Stalin

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's praise for the Union Defence Minister came a day after Rajnath Singh released a Rs 100 coin on the birth centenary of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin praised Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for releasing a Rs 100 coin on the birth centenary of DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi.

He said the way the Defence Minister spoke of Karunanidhi, even DMK men would not have.

Stalin's remarks came a day after Rajnath Singh visited the Karunanidhi memorial in Chennai.

"He came to the hall and asked everyone to give a standing ovation. I didn't sleep yesterday due to overwhelming happiness. Rajnath Singh spoke greatly about our leader Karunanidhi in such a way that even our DMK men would not," Stalin said.

Chief Minister Stalin also attacked Tamil Nadu Opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswamy over his comments claiming that DMK and BJP are in a "secret ties" following Rajnath Singh releasing the Centenary year celebration coin of Kalaignar Karunanidhi.

While speaking at an event, Stalin claimed that Rajnath Singh was invited to the Kalaignar M Karunanidhi's centenary function as it was a central government event.

“This is a central government event. Coins of MGR and Anna were released which I don’t think he (Palaniswamy) would have seen. EPS said that the coin had Hindi on it while DMK claimed Tamil everywhere. First you should know politics or have some brain."

The union government released coins which had Hindi and English.

But for Kalaignar, the inscription ‘Tamil Vellum’, (Tamil will win) is in embossed," Stalin sharply responded to Palaniswamy's claims.

Union Minister of State, Information and Broadcasting, L Murugan also clarified that it was a government event.
