Laldenga: Legendary Mizo leader |
Senior politician and BJP national vice president M Chuba Ao has said that the "sick mindset" is never a good alternative-politics as is allegedly being propagated by the Congress.
"They try to give an impression that the country was perfect till 2014 when dynasts were promoted and worshiped. They forget what Nehru said after the 1962 war. They forget that the Mizo Accord was signed in 1986 and within two years Laldenga's government was toppled..... It is a matter of fact Laldenga was hurt and so he did not live long. Talk to Mizo people, they feel the same way," Chuba said.
Born on 11th June, 1927; noted Mizo leader Laldenga expired on July 7, 1990. His government was toppled in 1988.
"I say sick...,,because they (Congress leaders) have stopped thinking and saying anything meaningful. Mr Jairam Ramesh has suggested that there should be a book entitled, 'Moon and Manipur'. He is ridiculing the people of Manipur in the process," Chuba told this journalist.
"I can only sympathise with sick people and their sick mindset. They have failed in a big way to behave as a responsible opposition," he said.
"Jairam Ramesh is one of the perceived intellectual leaders in that party. He has compared India's 'Moon mission' to problems in Manipur. He has thus also insulted the scientific community, ISRO and added insults to injuries suffered by the people in Manipur," he said.
Chuba's remarks are in reference to a tweet from Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh who has tweeted to say, "We can go to the moon but are unable or unwilling to deal with the basic issues our people face at home. An Indian version of the Richard Nelson essay may read, "The Moon and Manipur."
Answering questions, Chuba Ao said, "I have been following this party minutely since the 1960s and 1970s...Most problems in our northeast region are due to Congress arrogance, corruption and misgovernance. They forget insurgency in Mizoram started because the Congress leaders in Assam and Delhi failed to help the Mizos during the infamous famine".
"In Manipur, the Kuki-Naga clashes started due to double standards of the Rao government in the 1990s. Rishang Keishing was promoted and even made Chief Minister leaving Meitei Congress leaders anguished," Chuba Ao said.
On Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks on the Modi government not doing much on the Act East Policy, he said, "The Congress central leaders' biggest failure has been to integrate us....with the national mainstream. They always saw the north east as a region from where their leaders can garner benefits".
".... There was a time when money sanctioned for north east projects used to be shared in Delhi before even the secretaries in the departments knew about it in Kohima or Shillong".
Elaborating further, he said, "Look on the other side, they tried to make a villain out of businessman Anil Ambani in 2019. This time their leaders targeted another industrialist Gautam Adani. Do they not know that the entire country is aware of the nexus between Indira Gandhi, Pranab Mukherjee and Dhirubhai Ambani. I am sorry I have to refer to three dead people here".
On this backdrop, he said, "The entire sub-continent and business leaders globally respect Shri Gautam Adani. He has changed the face of Gujarat in some areas he worked.....That's the truth. Just because Congress is frustrated and their leaders are now almost jobless, they have started targeting corporate tycoons".
The BJP national vice president also mentioned that only on Saturday, Mr Adani met Bangladesh PM Madam Sheikh Hasina and handed over the 1600 MW Ultra Super Critical Godda Power Plant.

"It is appreciable that Adani industry's teams from India and Bangladesh worked tirelessly and braved Covid crisis to commission the plant in a record time of three-and-a-half years".
The senior BJP leader, who is now also chairman of Nagaland-government run Marcofed, notes, "My take is very simple. The Cooperative Movement cannot be successful without hardworking people and the people and the management following transparent and corruption-free working models".
He further says, "Why is the Cooperative Movement so successful in the state of Gujarat? These are the basic twin reasons: hard working people and contribution from the people".
"In the words of PM Narendra Modi, the Cooperative Movement is a great model for 'self-reliance' and it is also the answer to many of our challenges in terms of agrarian population and rural poor," he said adding that more result oriented steps ought to be taken in Nagaland as well to strengthen the cooperative movement.
