New issue to debate about Live In Relationship !!

"All over the world, 35 percent of murders of women are happening because of live-in relationships," says BJP MP Ajay Pratap Singh.

This issue may now become a major talking point. He further states, "In 1978, the court said that in India, live-in relationship is unethical but not illegal, in a way court recognised it and this led to an increase in live-in relationships, court also said that the woman partner will get all the rights as a wife in such a relationship".

“Marriage and family ties are a cultural heritage in India. Our religious scriptures and customs do not grant recognition to live-ins,” Singh said.

According to him, the "motive behind" this decision was to secure the future of children that are born out of this relationships.

"But, this order is being misused that's why I raised this issue...society must decide, what kind of nation they need, should we move forward with our cultural heritage or do we need to make our nation America or Mexico", the BJP MP from Madhya Pradesh says.

He urged the Central government to bring a law declaring such relationships illegal.

Speaking during Special Mentions in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday (July 26), he cited incidents of violence and crimes against women perpetrated by their live-in partners to seek a ban on all such relationships.

Referring to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), he claimed that around 38 per cent of all murders of women in the world are done by their intimate partners.
