"When in Opposition, BJP or NDA never sought foreign help to oppose governments", says PM Narendra Modi.
"The character of our republic is being severely assaulted in a systematic manner by the BJP. We express our grave concern over the humanitarian tragedy that has destroyed Manipur.
The silence of the Prime Minister is shocking and unprecedented. We are determined to combat and confront the continuing assault on the Constitution and on constitutional rights of democratically elected state governments": Joint Resolution of 26 political parties belonging to the opposition alliance I.N.D.I.A
"When the alliance is out of compulsion of power, when the alliance is with the intention of corruption, when the alliance is based on the policy of nepotism when the alliance is done keeping casteism and regionalism in mind, then that alliance prove harmful for the country," said PM Modi.
“A high command over the prime minister, policy paralysis, inability to take decisions, chaos and mistrust, tussles and corruption, scams worth millions,” said PM Modi alluding to the UPA rule.
"In our country, there has been a long history of political coalitions, but any coalition that was built on negativity was never successful," said the Prime Minister.
"Congress during the 90s used collations to bring instability in the country. Congress formed governments and even toppled them. During the same time period in 1998, NDA was formed", said PM Modi.
He said NDA was formed not to expel someone from power but to bring stability to the country.
"NDA was not formed in opposition to someone. It was not formed to expel anyone from power. It was formed to bring stability to the country," said the prime minister, adding that the country makes "immortal decisions" when it has a stable government.
In a stinging attack on the Opposition, particularly at the Congress, PM Modi said, NDA never disrespected the mandate of the people or sought foreign help to oppose the government.
“We always did positive politics even when we were in the Opposition. We never disrespected the mandate and never sought foreign help to oppose governments. We remained in the Opposition but did not block or become an obstacle to the development of the country,” said Modi.
"No stone was left unturned to empower the people. As a result, around 13.5 crore people were lifted out of poverty after 2015-16 as per the Niti Aayog report," he said.
Quoting the World Bank report, the prime minister said, "Around 40 crore people defeated poverty in a short span of time".
As per the IMF, extreme poverty is on the verge of being "wiped out from India", he said.
