Foreign angle to Manipur's problems --- Efforts on to break Parliament deadlock : Opposition leaders to continue with their stance

Importantly, the 'foreign angle' is coming out slowly.

The Manipur government views the fresh illegal entry of 718 refugees very seriously with utmost sensitivity as the same may have international ramifications more particularly in view of the ongoing law and order issues.


Leaders of opposition alliance have decided to continue their agitation on the Parliament premises through the night over their demand that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should open the debate on Manipur and also against the suspension of AAP's Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh. He was suspended on Monday by a voice vote for the remaining period of the ongoing Monsoon session.  


Like-minded Opposition floor leaders held a meeting on Tuesday, July 25 at the Rajya Sabha LoP chamber in Parliament. Opposition parties have decided that they will continue their demand for PM's statement on Manipur in both Houses.


The government on Monday said it is keen for a debate on Manipur and Home Minister Amit Shah also maintained that the country ought to know certain facts about the Manipur crisis. Nevertheless, there was no let up in the situation. 


The BJP Parliamentary Party meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday. The meeting is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.


Prime Minister Modi is likely to discuss with senior colleagues including the likes of Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and party president J P Nadda to draw up parliamentary strategy for the remaining days of the ongoing monsoon session.


He may give broad guidelines and instructions to lawmakers of his party on how to to conduct on Manipur issue in both the Houses of Parliament and also to give away the right messages to the media and the people.

 




The Cyber Crime Police Station Manipur registered a case in connection with the viral video of a woman being assaulted and killed by a mob including armed men (which happened in Myanmar) which had been falsely depicted as a case in Manipur.


Attempt is made to identify and arrest the accused persons for spreading false news with intent to disturb public tranquillity and create serious breach of law and order in the state, police said.

The state government on Monday asked Assam Rifles authorities to push back a total of 718 Myanmar nationals, including 301 children, who illegally entered Manipur on July 22 and 23.

According to a release issued by state Home department, 718 fresh refugees crossed Indo-Myanmar border and entered in the general area of New Laijang of Chandel district as on July 23 due to the ongoing clashes at Khampat opposite Border Pillar 58.



The Myanmar illegals are presently staying at Laijang, Bonse, New Somtal, New Laijang, Yangnomphai, Yangnomphai Saw Mill and Alvomjang. The group included 208 women, the release stated.


The state government had previously informed the border guarding force Assam Rifles to take strict action to prevent entry of Myanmar nationals into Manipur on any ground without valid visa or travel documents as per the instruction of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
