"The government has no fear and anyone who wants to discuss Manipur is welcome," Amit Shah said

"We don't have anything to hide. We have to go to the polls and people are watching you. Create a conducive atmosphere for a discussion on this sensitive issue of Manipur," Amit Shah said in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

"The government has no fear and anyone who wants to discuss is welcome," the Home Minister said

"....the people of Manipur are expecting Parliament to rise above party politics"

Amit Shah tweeted:

"Today, I wrote to the opposition leaders of both houses, Shri Adhir Ranjan howdhury and Shri Mallikarjun Kharge appealing to them for their invaluable cooperation in the discussion of the Manipur issue.

The government is ready to discuss the issue of Manipur and seeks cooperation from all the parties, rising above party lines. I hope that all the parties will cooperate in resolving this important issue."

The opposition has been demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should first make a statement on the Manipur situation in Parliament before a debate on the matter can be taken up in both the Houses.

“Some shameful incidents also came to the fore, after which the people of the entire country, the people of the North East and especially the people of Manipur are expecting the Parliament of the country to rise above party politics and stand with the people of Manipur in this difficult time,” the Home Minister said in his letter in Hindi.

“In the last six years of Bharatiya Janata Party rule in Manipur, the region was experiencing a new era of peace and development. But due to some court decisions and some incidents, incidents of violence took place in Manipur in the beginning of May,” the minister wrote,

On Tuesday, July 25, the Modi government managed to pass key Bills such as the Multi-State Cooperatives Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2022, and Biological Diversity (Amendment) Bill, 2022, in the Lok Sabha.

The Upper House also gave its approval to the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2022, which seeks to formalise Bhuinya, Bhuiyan and Bhuyan as synonyms of the Bharia Bhumia community, in the Rajya Sabha.

In a small way, it was also historic that on July 25, the "first woman Rajya Sabha member from Nagaland" Ms S Phangnon Konyak presided over the House while taking up important legislation.

“Immensely privileged, humbled and overwhelmed to preside over the Rajya Sabha today. Happy that it was a productive one with The Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2022, having been passed by the House.

Under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, women today are being given due respect and space in politics and leadership. My heartfelt gratitude to most respected Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji for this opportunity,” === tweeted Phangnon, who is also the President of BJP Mahila Morcha, Nagaland.

Responding to her Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wrote: “A very proud moment”.

The Opposition mulling moving a No Trust motion has probably given a relief to the ruling side as it is already comfortable with numbers and debate on a No Confidence motion is always on general subjects.

PM Modi and other BJP and NDA leaders will not be easily able to target their tirade against Congress and Trinamool Congress ruled states vis-a-vis women safety issues in Rajasthan and West Bengal.

The Manipur government on Tuesday decided to lift the suspension of broadband services in the state and also assured to 'review the mobile Internet ban'.

The Prime Minister addressed BJP Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday morning but Modi maintained "silence" on Manipur situation.

Sources say, the BJP parliamentary strategists are confident of riding out the Opposition attack. And as Rajya Sabha move suggests let the House be presided over a tribal woman may make it difficult to opposition members raise slogans or put up banners especially at a time when 'women' safety and respect for tribal women are key national issues.

In the Lok Sabha notwithstanding bedlam, key bills such as the National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill, 2023, National Dental Commission Bill, 2023, and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Fifth Amendment) Bill, 2022 have been already introduced on Monday, July 24.

PM Modi will hold meetings with NDA MPs from July 31 in order to ensure better coordination during Lok Sabha polls.
