Yogi Adityanath says massive turnout of devotees at Kumbh silenced critics who mocked religious gathering

Critics said Mrityu Kumbh, devotees showed it's Mrityunjay Kumbh: Yogi Adityanath

Yogi Adityanath said that the massive turnout of devotees at the Maha Kumbh silenced those who had made negative remarks about the religious gathering.

The Maha Kumbh was held at Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26 and saw over 66 corer devotees take the ritual bath at the Sangam in Prayagraj.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that the overwhelming turnout of devotees at the Maha Kumbh gave a befitting reply to those who labelled the event as ‘Mrityu Kumbh.’

“They called Kumbh ‘Mrityu Kumbh,’ so devotees gave a reply that it’s ‘Mrityunjay Maha Kumbh,’” he said at 'India Today Conclave' in New Delhi.

Recalling the initial scepticism regarding the expected number of attendees at the Maha Kumbh, Yogi Adityanath said,

-- “Before the Kumbh, based on queries from the public, I had said that 40-45 crore devotees would visit. When our friends started spreading negativity, I was sure that the public would teach them a lesson. And that’s exactly what happened.”

Yogi Adityanath further said that the Maha Kumbh has silenced those who made negative comments about Sanatana Dharma or alleged discrimination at the event.

“Those who used to say there was discrimination, those who made negative remarks about Sanatana Dharma, or claimed that there was discrimination between men and womenMaha Kumbh has shut them up,” Yogi Adityanath said.

Highlighting the unity fostered by the event, he said, “Everybody took a bath at one Sangamthe differences between rich and poor, between castes, between regions and languages were all erased. This was for the people of India and for the world.”

Speaking on the larger message of the Maha Kumbh, Yogi Adityanath remarked, “The message of unity is now in front of everyone. And this is the version of Sanatana Dharma that the world saw.”
