"Tamil Nadu is very clear that a two-language curriculum serves us very well"

On three-language policy in NEP and DMK MP Kanimozhi's statement, Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar says, "There is a demand for NEP... Many politicians in Tamil Nadu run private CBSE schools where Hindi is officially taught...

NEP does not impose Hindi but says that education will be imparted in the mother tongue till class 5 and, if possible, till class 8, and the mother tongue means the respective regional languages like Tamil, Bengali...

The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan programme includes many other things apart from funds... We are ready to give the funds and will ask them to receive it in the next 20 days. They had almost came ahead, but later political compulsions came in..."

BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh says, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, this is the first education policy under which education should be imparted in the mother tongue...

This education policy encourages mother tongue so that children can get the best education in their mother tongue. DMK and other parties of the INDI alliance are making misleading statements to save their falling politics... The public is demanding answers from you (DMK) for your actions."

On three-language policy in National Education Policy (NEP) and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's remarks, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram says, " ...Tamil Nadu is very clear that a two-language curriculum serves us very well.

Tamil preserves our identity and is our mother tongue, English is our link language to the world of commerce and science...

We don't need a 3rd compulsory language...Minister should have apologised, he withdrew it but he should have apologised too...".

DMK MP Kanimozhi says, "The Union Govt is withholding the money that has to be given to Tamil Nadu, saying that we have to sign the three-language policy and the NEP.

They are ruining the future of the children of Tamil Nadu. They have no right to withhold the funds which have to come to the children of Tamil Nadu.

Yesterday, he (Dharmendra Pradhan) responded in a very abusive way, saying that we are dishonest and that the people of Tamil Nadu are uncivilised. This is not the language we expect him to be speaking. This is totally undemocratic. We expect an apology".
