Angst or anguish has always been intertwined in the Naga story ::::
HOPE only an occasional visitor.
“We have a dream, we have a vision for the Naga people. We want to bring in real change," declared RPP president, and a former anti-corruption activist, Joel Naga, at a press conference in July 2021.
All that is over and on July 11, 2026 - RPP has merged with the NPF.
Poor 'Cock' -- with every passing day, it is losing credibility ... and the good old 'Naga regional polity' is virtually squandered.
The stories behind all these is Frustration and Nervousness.
The Naga politics was long back reduced 'a deal making' association. The so-called opposition-less Govt was not only a symbol of Failure; it was a deliberate Farce. The other name being - Let's enjoy power !
Do you have the happiness to know, that it is not a setting sun .... but a rising Sun ?
There is a story about America being a Republic. At the close of the 1787 constitutional convention, a woman approached one of the founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, to ask if the delegates had established a monarchy or a republic.
Franklin’s answer: “A republic, if you can keep it.”
That's the catch also about democracy and politics in Nagaland. The so-called opposition-less regime is actually a step towards corporatisation and commoditizaton of the seat of power. Genuine well wishers should immediately get rid of it.
In other words, the democracy is being squandered away. From distance - New Delhi is just watching the fun.
In the context of US; someone wrote that in Donald Trump, the country's constitution has come face-to-face with exactly the kind of figure the founders feared
....
– a president who seeks to rule as a monarch, enriching himself and his family in the process.
This business of contextualizing is important. In the US, Prez Trump gathers more and more power to himself. Do not blame the leader alone.
But closer home - Naga MLAs ae giving away their powers.
The Ministers have surrendered long back as an extra constitutional man has started ordering the ministers.
The system is no longer sick !
It is more than that. All that is happening around the time everyone realises that people are 'fed up' of extortion menace in the name of so-called peace process and talks.
The patient is in ICU. In the process even New Delhi is today bound to scrutinize whether - a chief minister is pro-one group of militants or the particular group is pro-chief minister.
There is a Supine in the room -- an individual not willing to protest or disagree with somebody because of being morally weak.
Ask any leader or Naga legislator even while in sleep - he would say his foremost priority is to manage enough funds for next elections.
What everyone’s looking at is whether --
Amit Shah sees an opportunity with NSCN-IM getting so 'distracted' these days.
The NPF insists that’s not the case, and New Delhi certainly won’t do anything as long as it rules Kohima and people like Himanta are its friends.
But in the whole; it must be tempting for 'rebels' Eastern Flank to explore whether they should go for a bigger slice of the cake.
Who or rather what would 'recapture' Naga imagination yet again ?
'Fed Up Nagas' made a timely adventure. It was a good moment to do so because NPF or chief minister Rio was either too complacent or 'massively overstretched'.
The NPF-BJP regime is incredibly unpopular, and everyone admits that.
The RPP has merged with the NPF only shows someone is more than nervous.
Probably he is realising ... between 2003 and 2026 - 23 years gone and youngsters may take money and do what they like to do as generally Gen Zee do with parents money !!
Has RPP taken this merger move with "sanction from all uncles" around Wokha is a simple puzzle.
Political readiness and Reality conflict.
Life is merciless too. If you are not at the table, you are on the menu.
When you try to control everything ... it means you have started losing control on the essential front.
A Mom-in-law losing control as the daughter-in-law enters new home !!
Dulhan - the bride is still in Delhi.
ends

I am of the opinion that any section of society which kills their own people cannot govern them. It is an open secret that the present government is repeatedly coming to power with the support of one faction of NSCN.
ReplyDeleteTime to considering the fact that one faction should be discounted from any future talks or agreements with the government.
Let the Nagas of Nagaland decide the future of their populace. Local political parties, intellectuals and the youth should be involved to politically govern the State. - Rudra Singh Rajput, Noida
Confused is not new to me. Wait and watch with anxiety - Yanger, Nagaland
