A day after chaos prevailed in the high-security central part of the national capital and police and protesters were injured; Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (July 21) termed the NEET paper leak a "ghor paap".
At the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, Modi said 13 accused have been arrested, and urged strict action and state cooperation to prevent future leaks.
“On the NEET examination, the Prime Minister said that the government acted immediately after reports of the paper leak surfaced, and 13 people were arrested and sent to jail.
At the same time, to ensure that students’ future was not affected, the NEET re-examination was given priority, conducted successfully, and the results were declared without delay," Kiren Rijiju said.
"The Prime Minister also said that strict steps have been taken to prevent such paper leaks in the future. Those found involved in the paper leak racket have been arrested and jailed".
"PM Shri Modi appealed that they should be given the strictest possible punishment, with the support of the country’s top lawyers, so that those involved in such a grave offence face exemplary action and such incidents do not recur,” Rijiju said.
Briefing reporters after the closed door meeting, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju said: "... The Prime Minister provided guidance to all ... It was a very productive meeting. The Prime Minister addressed several significant issues and offered his guidance."
PM also highlighted the successes the country has achieved in recent months and spoke about the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) signed with various nations.
Regarding these agreements, the Prime Minister assured that the interests of farmers would be prioritised.
His remarks are significant as a large number of farmers from Punjab have started marching towards New Delhi to ventilate their grievances. Punjab will go to polls by March 2027 along with UP and a few other states.
Modi emphasised that no harm would come to the farming community.
"PM also stated that the welfare of farmers remains paramount in any FTA signed with any country, ensuring that these agreements serve the best interests of both the farmers and the nation," Rijiju said.
"We welcomed the newly elected Rajya Sabha members and wished them success in Parliament. BJP president Nitin Nabin also attended the meeting for the first time as a Rajya Sabha member after assuming the party presidency. The meeting was very productive," he said.
