Meeting between Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) delegation and Modi's troubleshooter ministers Nadda and Jitendra Singh gets underway

 The much awaited meeting between the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) delegation and government representatives got underway at the Constitution Club of India, not far from Parliament. 

The CJP called for a nationwide protest today (July 24), urging people to hold demonstrations in every district.  The CJP appeared firm in its stance to continue its agitation even as Sonam Wangchuk finally broke his fast after being on a hunger strike for 26 days. 

The 59-year-old activist announced the end of his fast after Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh met him at the Medanta Hospital in Gurugram around Thursday midnight and conveyed the government's assurances about meeting his demands.  

A meeting chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah with other colleagues resulted in the Centre offering Sonam Wangchuk written assurances, including an assurance to introduce a new anti-paper leak bill in Parliament.

And thus, the activist was pursuaded to end his hunger strike.  

Following the meeting, Jitendra Singh spoke to Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, assuring her that the government was committed to addressing the concerns raised by the activist and urging him to end his fast.  

Within a span of just 30 days, what started as a protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over exam paper leaks quickly snowballed into an agitation against the education system as a whole. 

Throughout, the government maintained a studied silence. The crackdown on student protesters during their march to Parliament only gave the agitation fresh impetus, spilling over to other metros. The speed and scale of the unrest caught the government off guard.
