As Trump is back .... Muhammad Yunus, with close ties to Democrats, will find it tough to continue ::::: This is also good for India and the Hindus of Bangladesh

Experts feel Bangladesh's political calculations hinge on the belief that Donald Trump may be inclined to support Sheikh Hasina, the ousted PM.

Sheikh Hasina would be more than happy with the election results from America.

Her arch rival and incumbent Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus in 2016 had strongly condemned the election result wherein Donald Trump had defeated Hillary Clinton.
He had then called Trump’s victory in the US presidential election “a solar eclipse … black days”.

Therefore, Hasina's party Awami League has said - "Sheikh Hasina has congratulated Donald J Trump on his victory as the 47th President of the United States of America".

Importantly, she hoped that Trump's second presidency, the bilateral relations between "friendly countries of Bangladesh and USA would be further strengthened".  In fact, for all practical purpose the turmoil in Bangladesh was a Biden 'experiment' and it appears now the present dispensation in Dhaka will not find the necessary support from Washington.

This is also good for India and the Hindus of Bangladesh.

During campaign season, Trump tweeted a condemnation of the “barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities who are being attacked and looted by mobs in Bangladesh, which remains in a state of chaos”.

Muhammad Yunus’s supporters quickly dismissed Trump’s tweet, attributing it to “lobbyist activities”.

Some went further, claiming Trump’s statement was “bogus” and “lacked substance”. One notable critic of the tweet was the head of an NGO, funded largely by the US and backed by Biden’s State Department, including figures like Donald Lu.

Following Sheikh Hasina’s ouster and the installation of a new regime in Bangladesh led by Yunus, the Biden State Department promptly issued a statement, saying it “stands ready to work” with Bangladesh’s interim government.

Pro-Yunus think tanks and intellectuals suggested that the State Department’s stance was a testament to Yunus’s influence, as he “has many friends within the power corridors of Washington”.

In a piece in The Eurasian Times, author Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, argues that Trumps remarks on the alleged violence in Bangladesh have added an unexpected international angle to an already charged campaign season.

U.S. Muslims clearly express concerns and worries about the future of the country and their place in American society in the wake of Donald Trump’s election as president. This was during Trump 1.0

'Most Muslims " -- according to some surveys - were dissatisfied with the direction the country is going, which is a reversal of opinion from 2011.

Majorities of U.S. Muslims view the Republican Party and Trump as unfriendly toward Muslim Americans. And most Muslims say anti-Muslim discrimination is prevalent in American society. These worries and concerns are most pronounced among Muslim women and among those born in the United States. (2017)
