Tesla CEO and onetime Republican presidential hopeful put forward to lead department to ‘dismantle government bureaucracy’

 Trump appoints Elon Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy to clean up US bureaucracy 

US President-elect Donald Trump has named "great" Elon Musk and "American patriot" Vivek Ramaswamy to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) together.

In an announcement, Trump said, "Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies -- essential to the 'save America' movement."

In response to the announcement, the Tesla CEO said, "This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people."  

Ramaswamy, the Indian-American tech entrepreneur who withdrew his presidential bid earlier this year and backed Trump in the race to the White House, said, "We will not go gently."  

John Ratcliffe will be new CIA Director.

John is another Trump loyalist to be chosen for a key role. He served as director of national intelligence during Trump’s first term after being confirmed by the Senate on his second try following concerns over his experience. 

In a statement, Trump praised the former Texas congressman’s role in the Hunter Biden laptop saga. 

Earlier, it was speculated that Kashyap 'Kash' Patel, an Indian-origin former Republican House staffer, would be selected as the CIA chief. 

However, Trump has now declared Ratcliffe as the chief of the CIA.

Ratcliffe, a close ally of Trump, served as director of national intelligence at the end of his first term in 2020. 

Ratcliffe was confirmed as the nation's top spy in May 2020, a few months before Trump left office.  

"I look forward to John being the first person ever to serve in both of our Nation's highest Intelligence positions. 

He will be a fearless fighter for the Constitutional Rights of all Americans, while ensuring the Highest Levels of National Security, and PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH," Trump said. 

"From exposing fake Russian collusion to be a Clinton campaign operation, to catching the FBI's abuse of Civil Liberties at the FISA Court, John Ratcliffe has always been a warrior for Truth and Honesty with the American Public. 

When 51 intelligence officials were lying about Hunter Biden's laptop, there was one, John Ratcliffe, telling the truth to the American People," Trump said in a statement.

As the director of National Intelligence, Ratcliffe was accused by Democrats and former intelligence officials of declassifying intelligence for use by Trump and his Republican allies to attack political opponents, including Joe Biden, then Trump's rival for the presidency, a charge Ratcliffe's office has denied.
