Arvind Kejriwal - dubbed as crusade against corruption - vacated the residence in October after stepping down as the Delhi Chief Minister, and Ms Atishi took over the top job.
The BJP now has alleged that the inventory list prepared by the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi Chief Minister's residence has revealed expensive fittings and renovations, including luxury items like full body massagers and jacuzzis.
This is what happened with and inside 6 Flagstaff Road in Civil Lines.
A video posted on X by BJP's IT Cell chief Amit Malviya lists the range of opulent items found at the residence.
The Lotus party has claimed that 75 Bose ceiling speakers were found in kitchens, toilets, washing areas, and gyms. The PWD list, as quoted by Malviya, also included a 934 litre multi-door fridge that had AI and advanced technological features. A 73 litre steam oven with touchscreen was also among the luxury items listed by the PWD.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia also had said earlier - that Arvind Kejriwal has become "the biggest symbol of VVIP culture".
"Arvind Kejriwal is the most corrupt politician India has seen. If he has moral courage, then he should answer...," he said, citing official documents after Kejriwal quit as chief minister.
Bhatia alleged that the bungalow had a 21,000 sq ft built-up area and 50 ACs in addition to a 250-tonne air conditioning plant. It had toilet seats costing 12 crore and a TV was worth over Rs 28.91 lakh.
As per the BJP, Rs 10 crore was spent on lavish interiors, which included 12 large chandeliers, 57 ceiling fans, and handmade carpets worth Rs 50 lakh. The inventory also included brass railings and a staircase worth Rs 41 lakh.
The inventory list also mentioned 55-77 inch TVs worth Rs 73 lakh and luxury items like jacuzzis, saunas, full body massagers costing Rs 20 lakh, as per the BJP.
In October, the saffron party - which is out of power since 1998 - had trained guns on former chief minister and AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal.
It had alleged that the inventory list prepared by the PWD of the Chief Minister’s residence in Civil Lines reveals expensive fittings and renovations.
“Undoubtedly, the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence should be beautiful and equipped with modern amenities, but wasting public money on extravagance under the guise of amenities is condemnable,” Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva had said.
He claimed that toilet seats “worth Rs 1 crore were installed” but are now reportedly “missing”, while sanitary fittings in the residence amount to “more than Rs 15 crore”.
Decorative items, he added, are valued at “over Rs 5 crore.”
The inventory list also shows curtains costing Rs 5.6 crore and sofas worth several lakhs, highlighting the luxurious air-conditioned bungalow, Sachdeva alleged.
