"You know how Hindus are tortured there (Bangladesh). This kind of torture cannot go on. Prabhu Chinmoy Krishna Das has not done anything wrong. We want his immediate release. He has been slapped with false cases. This cannot be allowed. Enough is enough," BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said in Kolkata.
He said Indian authorities should immediately stop issuing visas to Bangladeshis, unless the caretaker government in the neighbouring country releases prominent Hindu leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari.
Speaking to the media after submitting a memorandum to the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, Adhikari also demanded that import and export between the two countries be suspended temporarily until steps were taken to stop torture of the minorities there.
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking direction for the constitution of the Sanatan Dharm Raksha Board.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Manmohan remarked that the court could not entertain the plea since the issue fell within the policy domain. The Bench, also comprising Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, added that the PIL litigant may approach the government for redressal of the grievances raised in the PIL.
The plea filed by Sanatan Hindu Sewa Sangh Trust said that the followers of Sanatan Dharma known as Hindu Dharm have no any kind of board or government body which can protect their rights and customs.
“The petitioner is filing the instant writ petition in the public interest for upholding the rule of law and for enforcement of the rights of the citizens under Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution of India. This petition seeks the direction to the respondent (authorities) to constitute a religious body for protection of Sanatan dharma and culture of Sanatan like ‘Sanatan Dharm Raksha Board’,” it added.
The PIL termed it a “serious situation” when the people of the community belonging to other religions are attacking the Sanatan dharm in different manners like conversion of religion from Sanatan dharm to other religions.

"Ensure Safety of Minorities in Bangladesh" - says CPI-M
The situation of the Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh is continuing to cause concern. Various incidents have occurred that threaten their safety and security. At a time when fundamentalist forces are active to create a communal divide, the Bangladesh authorities are yet to take firm steps to curb communal attacks. For the sake of peace and harmony, the Bangladesh interim government has to act without delay.
In this connection, within India, the Hindutva forces are indulging in wild and incendiary propaganda. Their motives are suspect since it is these very forces who are responsible for Muslim-baiting as well as targeted attacks on minorities here.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday condemned the arrest of a prominent Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu in Bangladesh.
He also said that his party would support the Centre on whatever decision it takes in relation to international issues, including Bangladesh.
However, he called development in Bangladesh “unfortunate”.
“All I can say is that what has happened is very reprehensible and unfortunate.”
“This is not Bengal’s issue. It is a matter that the Union government will take care of. The Centre will make decisions on international issues. Our party will support the Centre in whatever steps it takes in connection with any international affairs. We have already made our party’s stand clear.”
