The BJP lawmaker told NDTV : "Short of that what he did in Pune .... it was nothing short of a gimmick.
Let him show to the nation that within the party he has walked the talk. Let him give five instances how has he brought the paradigm shift when it comes to empowering women inside his party.
"Only then he has the right to criticise any manuscript (perhaps Manusmriti), any system or any other political party".
Answering questions, Ms Dev, whose father Late Santosh Dev was a towering Congressman from Assam; - said there have been instances where Patriarchy decided things in favour of male leaders in the Congress party.
For example, she said -- Kumari Selja could loose out to Bhupinder Hooda.... "I can go on and on and on with examples. Let me tell you, that change has to come from the top.
"You have to walk the talk; you can't pay lip service. and believe me, it (pariarch) happens and it happens within the Congress and it is not easy for any topnotch leader to break that patriarchy".
Therefore she said, instead of attacking other parties or any manuscript of a religion; "In the next Chhatro ke Goonj; I would like to request request him (Rahul Gandhi) that give five instances of how he has demolished patriarchy or he has broken that cage within his party".
Former Silchar representative and now a Rajya Sabha MP of BJP, Sushmita said, "My take on Pune event is that it was not about breaking patriarchy, which by the way also persists in countries worldwide where there is no Manusmriti".
That is why she pointed put one of the Sustainable Development Growth (SDG) goals is gender equality.
"This means Patriarchy spreads across the world ... whether it is the US, UK ... so to blame it on Manusmriti is nothing but a political agenda".
