Neelam arrested for protesting outside Parliament participated in farmers' agitation: Family members (says PTI)

Hang my son if he has done wrong’, says father of one suspect

“It is okay if my son does good but if he has done something wrong then hang him. He is not my son (if he has done wrong).

That Parliament is ours. People like you all have built it. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru had toiled to build it. We will not accept it,” Manoranjan D’s father Devaraje Gowda told reporters.  Manoranjan hails from Mysuru.

“My son is a good boy. He is honest and truthful. His only desire is to do good for the society and sacrifice for the society. He used to read Swami Vivekananda’s books. I think he developed such thoughts after reading these books,” he said.

“It is difficult to understand what was running in his mind. My son completed his BE (Bachelor in Engineering) in 2016 and was looking after the farm. He also worked in some firms in Delhi and Bengaluru,” he added.

Manoranjan and another person, Sagar Sharma jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the pubic gallery and released yellow-coloured smoke from canisters.

Reports from Lucknow said, family members of Sagar Sharma, one of the two men who jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery, had said he was to go to Delhi to attend a "protest".

However, the family said they are unaware about his involvement in the Parliament security breach.

Sharma is a resident of Ramnagar under Manak Nagar police station limits in Lucknow, police said.

Amol Shinde, arrested for protesting outside the Parliament building on Wednesday, had left his village in Maharashtra's Latur district saying he was going to Delhi to take part in an army recruitment drive.

He and his associate Ms Neelam  raised slogans -- "Tanashahi Nahi Chalegi" (dictatorship will not be allowed), "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Jai Bheem, Jai Bharat."

Shinde (25), a resident of Zari village in Chakur tehsil of Latur, was arrested along with Neelam, 42, of Haryana's Hisar, after they opened gas canisters that emitted smoke outside the Parliament building.

A team of Latur police also visited his house in Zari village, sources said.

Shinde belongs to a Scheduled Caste community and is a BA graduate, said a police official based in Chakur. He did odd jobs as a daily wager while preparing for police and army recruitment exams, as per the preliminary information
