Jungle Raj is a matter of past ..... Under BJP and Nitish Kumar; Kurmis and OBCs suffered the most : Congress leader Rajesh Kumar Sethi
# What's your assessment of Bihar politics; you have been campaigning here hard ... you think History will be reversed now and Nitish Kumar will be ousted ?
Rajesh Sethi :
The fact that you are starting this interview with such a query, it makes it clear that the Mahagathbandhan under RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has a big edge. Politics is also about mind game. This is something we have outsmarted BJP-JD(U)-LJP combine. Nitish Kumar will be ousted and the NDA will disintegrate. The people want job here.... BJP only has Jumla and communal politics.
# So it seems you are quite confident; but what about Jungle Raj that Bihar experienced under Lalu Prasad ... Will people repose faith in his son ... Will not the state go back to those dangerous days ?
Rajesh Sethi :
Well everyone wants to ask that question. Some are doing because they are tutored by BJP's Hindutva campaigners to give such twist. The Congress politics has never been about spins etc. The RJD also does not like Jumla politics. Our road map is clear... the Blueprint focusing on changing the face of Bihar is ready.
We have pledged to ensure jobs so that the hard working Bihari talent do not to move around entire India as immigrants looking for jobs. At the same time ... look around what went on under the Nitish regime, agriculture products and fruits produced here are taken away and minerals extracted. These issues need policy corrections.
Under Nitish Kumar and BJP; they have so called Mangal Raj and hence murder, loot and rape are in full swing. Most of it do not come out in the national media.
# You might have deliberately avoided talking about Lalu Prasad's rule and Jungle Raj?
Rajesh Sethi : I am the last person not to admit facts. It is true law and order issues prevailed for sometime when Janata Dal and later RJD was in power. But that's Past. Under the so called 'development man' ... that is Nitish Kumar; Kurmis suffered the most. You know Nitish ji is himself a Kurmi. Then OBCs and Yadavs got ill-treated. The BJP has pushed communalism in Bihar ... which was never a factor here.
There are vocal Union Ministers from Bihar who make it a point that on daily basis; they will do Muslim bashing. The Bihar people were never used to these.
# You were telling something about jobs?
Rajesh Sethi : You see; the job crisis in Bihar is directly linked to policy crisis or wrong approach over the years. The Nitish Kumar-led JD-U had come to power with a lot of expectations among people from 2005 itself.
They promised New Bihar and so on .... but Bihar stood stand still despite Nitish Kumar getting such good opportunities. Basically, the governance system and socio-political structure of NDA has failed.
Local people have talent and are hard working unlike some people in north east of India ... yet the people have remained Development-starved. That's why we say ... the system failed.
# So ... how will Congress correct it ? Chief Minster won't be from your party ?
Rajesh Sethi :
I know what you are trying to implicate. Congress is not in that race.... we have already started calling Mr Tejashwi 'our future chief minister'. The party workers both in the Congress and RJD are excited.
Today in Morena, Supaul; I had the privilege of sharing the stage with RJD leader and future Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav ji, along with our Congress candidate Minnat Rahmani ji. The atmosphere was electrifying — an unbelievable sea of people gathered to hear Tejashwi ji.
From the moment his helicopter appeared in the sky .... the crowd erupted with chants of “Is Baar Tejashwi – Mahagathbandhan Sarkar!”, “Tejashwi Yadav Zindabad!”, “Rahul Gandhi Zindabad!”, and “Minnat Rahmani Zindabad!”
It was a powerful reflection of the people’s mood — Bihar is ready for change and eager to bring back a government that stands for progress, justice, and youth empowerment.
I will tell you ... BJP's internal dynamics are already whispering against Nitish Kumar. Most players do not have trust in the Team captain Nitish Kumar. You may remember .... people believe ... Tejashwi ji will be the captain of the state of Bihar and there will be many boundaries and sixes. We will defeat JD-U.
But I was sharing the facts about differences in that coalition. Many BJP leaders do not bat for Nitish Kumar. The JD(U) leaders knew they have to suffer huge number seats in the 2025 assembly polls. BJP's own leaders in Bihar wanted Nitish Kumar to join union cabinet.... some wanted the new government of NDA to be grossly anti-Muslim.
The JD-U leaders and also LJP do not want such a situation. NDA is only a coalition of contradictions and hence people have decided to reject such parties.
