Dharmendra was BJP nominee from Bikaner....for 14th Lok Sabha. During election campaign, he interacted with Bikaner-wallahs in Mumbai. I was accompanied by Free Press Journal editor G L Lakhotia, also a Bikaner-wallah.
Dharmendra asked my name when I requested for his autograph and as most north Indians and Jats --- he spelled it 'wrong'

On Thursday, November 27, Hema Malini posted an emotional tribute on social media, calling the late actor Dharmendra “everything” to her.
Sharing a heartfelt note, Hema wrote, “Dharam ji (heart emoji) He was many things to me. Loving husband, adoring father of our two girls Esha & Ahaana, friend, philosopher, guide, poet, my ‘go to’ person in all times of need — in fact, he was everything to me! And always has been through good times and bad.”
She went on to describe how Dharmendra formed deep bonds with everyone around her, "He endeared himself to all my family members with his easy, friendly ways, always showing affection and interest in all of them."
Remembering his stature as a public figure, Hema wrote that his humility and universal appeal made him 'a unique icon unequalled among all the legends'.
“His enduring fame and achievements in the film industry will last forever,” she said.
She also spoke about the profound personal loss she now faces, "“My personal loss is indescribable, and the vacuum created is something that will last through the rest of my life. After years of togetherness, I am left with myriad memories to relive the many special moments."
Dharmendra, hailed as Bollywood’s ‘He-Man’ and one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved stars, was cremated in Mumbai on Monday.
He is survived by Hema Malini, his first wife Prakash Kaur, and his six children — Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Esha Deol, Ahana Deol, Ajeeta, and Vijeta.
