Congress leaves Amethi, Rae Bareli decision to Kharge :::::::::: "Congress wants Muslim votes but will not field Muslim candidates?" -- says Naseem Khan

Maharashtra Congress leader Muhammed Arif 'Naseem' Khan has stepped down from the party's campaign committee, expressing displeasure over the party not nominating any Muslim leader in the state.

Khan raised the bogey of the grand old party not nominating a single Muslim candidate in the western state.

In his letter to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Naseem Khan said, "Congress ko Muslim vote chahiye, candidate kyu nahi (Congress wants Muslim votes but why not field Muslim candidates)?"

Sources in the Congress said that Naseem Khan was not happy with Varsha Gaikwad being given ticket from Mumbai North Central seat. Naseem Khan wanted to contest from this seat.

The Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) left the decision to select the candidates of Amethi and Rae Bareli to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

At the CEC meeting in the national capital on Saturday, the members demanded that Rahul Gandhi must contest from Amethi against Union Minister Smriti Irani and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra be fielded to contest from her mother Sonia Gandhi’s erstwhile seat, Rae Bareli.
