This is where 'Muslim League' angle comes and it sticks ..... Congress says ..... it will ensure that, "like every citizen, minorities have the freedom of choice of dress, food ....

"Congress will ensure that, like every citizen, minorities have the freedom of choice of dress, food, language and personal laws. We will encourage reform of personal laws. Such reform must be undertaken with the participation and consent of the communities concerned," the Congress says in its manifesto.

Here are the 9 promises Congress made for minorities:

** We will respect and uphold the fundamental right to practice one's faith and the rights guaranteed to religious minorities under Articles 15, 16, 25, 26, 28, 29 and 30 of the Constitution.

We will also respect and uphold the rights of linguistic minorities guaranteed under Articles 15, 16, 29 and 30 of the Constitution.

We will encourage and assist students and youth belonging to the minorities to take full advantage of the growing opportunities in education, employment, business, services, sports, arts and other fields.

We will restore the Maulana Azad Scholarships for study abroad and increase the number of scholarships.

The economic empowerment of minorities is a necessary step for India to realise its full potential. We will ensure that banks will provide institutional credit to minorities without discrimination.

We will ensure that the minorities receive their fair share of opportunities in education, healthcare, public employment, public works contracts, skill development, sports and cultural activities without discrimination.

Congress will ensure that, like every citizen, minorities have the freedom of choice of dress, food, language and personal laws.

We will encourage reform of personal laws. Such reform must be undertaken with the participation and consent of the communities concerned.

Congress promises to meet long standing demands for inclusion of more languages in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

However, it is baffling how the party has decided to remain silent on Article 370 and the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA).

There is perhaps also need to look at today's polity rather objectively? In some quarters, it is believed that the Indian politics has 'converted' itself from minority appeasement to majority appeasement ... and this may be dangerous.

How Narendra Modi actually benefited by Congress policy of minority and especially Muslim appeasement?

Congress used to be very formidable player in all India till late

During the 1980s and early 1990s,  the Congress lost its prominence in cowbelt states like Bihar and UP and it coincided with the rise of Mandal politics and also BJP's gain in many states.

The regional players like Samajwadi Party and RJD in UP and Bihar captured the minority vote bank as the so-called MY -- Muslim and Yadav card worked phenomenally for Mulayam Singh Yadav and Lalu Prasad.

Congress was in power in 1992 when the Babri Mosque was demolished. Obviously this was one of the main reasons that minorities in UP, Bihar sided with Mandal forces.

Sonia Gandhi brought the 'minority card' and when in power it led to gross appeasement.

PM Manmohan Singh even said Minorities have the first right/claim to national resources. Nothing could have been more insulting for the majority Hindus.

In 2004, the Congress won 7 more seats than BJP in 2004 Lok Saba election and came to power.

In 2009, L K Advan failed to garner voters and the Congress tally touched 200 mark.

The Indian polity was changing. Arrogance led Congress and UPA constituents go blatant for corruption. Multiple scams - 2G, Coalgate, Commonwealth, Adarsh Housing and others surfaced.

Anna Hazare launched Lok Pal Movement. The Congress panicked and could not handle the 'mass protest' and the politics therein.

UPA repealed POTA (Prevention of terrorism act).

Making Muslims seemed okay even it meant go soft with Pakistan. The Manmohan Singh government did not act like a self-respecting dispensation even after Nov 26 catasrophe.

On the issue of Batla House encounter in Delhi, Digvijaya Singh and Salman Khurshid said that Sonia Gandhi wept when she met with Muslims of that locality. This was to justify terrorism.

Ill-advised the Congress tried to create a whole narrative of Hindu terrorism and they tried to even blame so called “Hindu forces” for various attacks.

Digvijaya Singh was Rahul's guru and he even called terrorists with respect -- "Osama Ji".

After suffering humiliating defeat in 2004, the Congress realised the blunder of going so far with Muslim appeasement.

The Congress party forgot that despite being 'secular India' (you may read Sickular) ..... even tolerant Hindus have a limit.

Then Congress again went overboard to an extent but it was mere lip-service.

Rahul Gandhi claimed he is a Jenaudhari Brahmin -- which is technically a falsehood as his grand father Feroze Gandhi was neither Hindu nor Barhmin.

In 2019 general election, the BJP won 92% of seats where BJP and Congress were in direct fight.
