After Kerala voting on April 26, Rahul will announce second constituency for him, says PM Modi ::::: "Chunao ladne ki himmat nahi hae" ... dig at Sonia Gandhi

Without naming Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has predicted that the Congress leader will contest from another constituency besides Wayanad in Kerala.

"Now you see what the situation in the South is. The crown prince of Congress flees the North and takes shelter in the South. He left for Wayanad. This time his condition is that he is waiting to announce some other seat for himself as soon as the polling for Wayanad is done on 26th April.

He is looking for another seat. Mark my words. This will happen," the Prime Minister said.

Reflecting on past predictions regarding Congress leaders transitioning from Lok Sabha to Rajya Sabha positions, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the inevitability of defeat for certain parties. He expressed full confidence in the BJP's electoral performance, citing previous successes and the prevailing political climate.

"I had once announced in Parliament that their big leaders were no longer going to contest the Lok Sabha elections, they would go to the Rajya Sabha. And a month after I said this, their biggest leader had to leave the Lok Sabha. So this defeat has already been accepted. So, I am completely confident this time," he said.

"I am not here to rule, but serve. I am not in favour of enjoying the perks and powers that come with the job. I try to work hard, even more than a common citizen would, in a bid to fulfil the people's aspirations," Modi told Asianet in an intervew.

Modi said the efficiency of the Enforcement Directorate improved after 2014 and provided stats as proof.

The ED -- that was created much before he came to power - filed less than 1,800 cases under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) before 2014.

The number increased to more than 5,000 after the NDA government came to power, PM Modi said.

This is "proof of their improved efficiency", said the Prime Minister. Moreover,  the number of searches conducted by the agency that is under the Finance Ministry also increased from 84 to 7,000 before and after 2014.

PM also addressed the allegations raised by opposition parties that central agencies are being used to target them. He said only three per cent of the corruption cases registered by the ED are against people involved in politics.

He also took a dig at the criticism raised by opposition parties and said, "If an institution has been set up to take action against corruption, questions should be asked if it does not do its work. It does not make sense to ask questions because it does its work."

The Prime Minister added that the government should let the investigative agencies work independently and should not hinder their work for their political interests.

PM Modi said the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are "critical" because the voters of the country "experienced what a stable government can do" after "unstable governments for three decades". Such "unstable governments" did a lot of damage to the country and the ongoing general elections are important as people will cast their votes based on their experience.

"I believe that the election of 2024 is not being fought by the BJP or Modi. It's an initiative of the people," said the Prime Minister.

He also spoke about him becoming the Prime Minister in 2014 and said, "The people had hopes from me, and I had hopes of fulfilling the hopes of the people of the country. I don't rule, I serve. To run a government, for me, doesn't mean enjoying my post while running a government."

He slammed the previous governments and said they did not work towards strengthening India's relations with West Asia. PM Modi said the relationship between India and these countries has moved from a 'seller/buyer' dynamic towards a more comprehensive development.

The improved relations have also helped the people of Kerala and other Indian diaspora now residing in that region.

In an election rally in Maharashtra, Modi took a pot shot at Sonia Gandhi and said he does not have the courage to even contest election. "Chunao ladne ki himmat nahi hae...".

"The INDI alliance came together to save each other from corruption charges but the fact of the matter is the Congress leaders have already accepted defeats.... Even Congress Shehzade (crown prince) is seeing threats in Wayanad. Like he left and deserted Amethi....you can believe that he will leave Wayanad also".
