The priceless Question generally makes Hindus angry -- and opportunists like Congress sycophants look for cover and pro-China communists and so-called Left liberal 'intellectuals' may even rejoice !!
There is a candle light club for all that 'aman' (peace) and so on with 'neighbour' -- howsoever notorious it could be. But there will be shortage of candles when it comes to Sandeshkhali --- Why ?? Because the accused is named Sheikh Shahjahan?
These appeasements actually revive the anguish of 'partition' !!
But this question...this issue of PARTITION of united Mother India (Akhand Bharat) deserves a serious reading and more than mere reading the Catharsis particularly by those who Disagree with the Anguish in the Question itself !!
My generation of Indians -- I am 1970 born and so is Mr Rahul Gandhi -- of course he could not have experienced what I lived through -- started 'hating' Muslims (if you say/assume so) because they supported Pakistan cricket team.
The Sharjah matches were fixed -- but during our time as we wasted study hours eating and sleeping cricket -- there were days -- we cried and we saw the 'other boys' rejoice the moments when Javed Miandads or someone else behaved even badly with our 'gentleman and timid Hindu boys like' Kiran More !!
The root of all these was Partition. And here in India --- Hindu boys grew up in northeast as Dhwaker in Shillong, Plain manu in Kohima and Dimapur and Vai Naupangs in Mizoram. Because you were Hindus -- you could be mocked and beaten.
And because India has been a 'sick' nation - Sickular --- others had all the rights.
Northeast states and towns burnt earlier also but no Kolkata quiz master screamed 'Manipur...Manipur' as they did in 2023.
Young people from parochial organisations were our friends but not 'pals' or 'Veeru' as Anil Kapoor describes friendship in film 'Welcome' -- that's Mumbai language !!
Google for a while --- and you could hit upon a paragraph ::
Examples of 'catharsis' include physical or verbal expressions of feeling, such as hitting a punching bag, screaming or sobbing, or going for a long run.
So longgggg..... at times --- the Kohima's Bengali boy is in New Delhi -- not because he loves Chhole Bhaturey or he has a flat of his own.
He still misses Bamboo shoot pork and Naga friends and colleagues - both boys and girls.
In each of these examples, catharsis would occur if the action has the result of releasing previously pent up emotions such as anger, frustration or sadness.
But how did the law proceed... 'plain people' ought to be wrong.... Vai Naupangs deserved to be thrown out to Silchar.
Nevertheless, in my personal case there was a big exception .... despite all parochialism and tribalism -- Naga editors and journalist colleagues stood by me whenever notorious boys tried to create problem.
Naga politicians too loved me. Likes of S C Jamir did not bother whatever I wrote --- and he was a punching bag. Likes of Neiphiu Rio - present Chief Minister - would say -- why don't you try a job in Delhi... things are getting too complicated here !!
But these were exceptions and this happened to someone -- whose dad never missed to say that "You (yours blogger) think like a Naga".
But Partition remains a mega issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought the issue back into public debate when he said that the Congress Manifesto has the stamp of Muslim League of the 1947 era.
"Congress ke Ghoshna patra mein wohi soch jhalak ti hae, jo soch .....Muslim League mein thi".
Who actually were victims of this 'crime' --- India's Hindu majority? Muslims? or a simple map?
Did Jinnah and Jawaharlal Nehru agree about one thing -- "United, we two fall, and the country Divided, we stand". Nehru became India's prime minister and 'passed' on the legacy to daughter ... grand son etc. Even his great grandson became Congress president and to a section of Indians (he is most eligible candidate to be next PM even in 2024).
At least -- he would be 'better' than that poor chae-wallah's son !!
On the demand for creation of Pakistan, one interpretation has been that the "impulse" for the same actually came from a Congress leadership first and not from the Muslim league. Long back Pakistani scholar Ayesha Jalal said Jinnah only wanted to 'protect' the interests of Indian Muslims as he feared that the Congress leadership was impatient to create a strong 'central state' and that might have fallen into the hands of Hindu majority.
According to Sunil Khilnani, the author of 'The Idea of India' -- "The two states of India and Pakistan were indeed created out of a clash, not of civilisations, cultures or religions. It was a clash of opposite views on how to represent minorities and protect them in a future democratic order".
Now take a closer look at the Congress manifesto ... and you will find it not only a document pandering to Muslims and other minorities. It is also trying to make a case that Hamas act in October 2023 was 'not terrorism' and that Pakistan deserves a chance to join India's battle against terrorism.
Is it not shameful ?

Congress pledges to work with other countries to fight terrorism. What does it mean actually -- it's a soft launch of talks with Pakistan -- something the Govt of India is not doing since Uri attack on sleeping Indian soldiers in 2016.
Of course, PM Narendra Modi’s government has dealt sternly with the terrorists. The theory 'ghus ke marte hae” is India's pride and neighbour's envy and something that has left it rattled.
Visi social media and you will know netizens question and also lament that the UPA government under Sonia-Manmohan duo was too cautious not to displease Pakistan after the Mumbai attacks of 2008.
Did it really try or it failed to get the Pakistan-based masterminds punished ?
The Congress will have to do a lot of explanation than a mere intellectual press conference by Big 3 or even Jairam Ramesh.
Social media is also flooded with views alleging that the Nehruvian blunders at the garb of 'idealism' and pro-communist tilt cost India its self-interest in many domains such as UNSC seat, Kashmir issue to UN, appeasement of China.
The slow economic growth was also too obvious and chappal culture flourished.
In fact, the Congress said in its manifesto, “There was a consensus on foreign policy since Independence. Unfortunately, in many areas, foreign policy under the BJP/NDA government has witnessed marked departures from this consensus, notably on the ongoing Gaza conflict.
Congress pledges to restore India’s global reputation as a voice of peace and moderation in world affairs.”
What the Congress is referring to is PM Modi’s message on X on October 7, 2023, condemning the “terrorist attacks in Israel”, and possibly also expressing “solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour”.
Eyeing votes; does the Congress want to reverse this !!
