Wrong Priority is a disease the Congress has been suffering ....it says "We will encourage and assist students belonging to minorities to take full advantage of opportunities in education, employment" -- Does Rahul Gandhi and wise team of Chidambarams and 'Jai-rahims' mean Hindus do no need these ??

Caught on wrong foot? How ?

"We will encourage and assist students and youth belonging to the minorities to take full advantage of the growing opportunities in education, employment," says Congress Manifesto,,,,

Does it mean majority 'Hindus' do not need it ..... Jai-rahims are always intellectuals (with apologies)

New Delhi

In the tenth year of Narendra Modi being the Prime Minister of world's largest democracy - India -there has never been a greater need than today for a balanced and objective analysis of the politics of his pro-Hindu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).Perhaps it is all the more important to do a fair interpretation of BJP's growth and acceptability of Modi to India's minorities especially Muslims.

There are numerous ways to polarise Hindu-Muslim divide in Indian elections and yes, Modi knows the art of it. The other day Congress released its election Manifesto.

The document promised a series of things which could be difficult to implement owing to economic reasonsas any government in a population of 1.45 billion people can't have so much money for freebies.

There was a chapter on Minorities and India's opposition party listed out a series of pledges to help Muslims, Christians with a series of welfare measures.

Chances of Congress coming to power as of now looks bleak as most surveys are giving Narendra Modi and BJP huge advantage, hence many did not take Congress manifesto much seriously either.

But the Prime Minister used it turning the entire episode to his advantage and labelled the Congress document as having the 'imprint' of the vision of Muslim League.

Led by Mohammed Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan state, the Muslim League is accused of partitioning India during its independence in 1947.

"We will encourage and assist students and youth belonging to the minorities to take full advantage of the growing opportunities in education, employment, business, services, sports, arts and other fields.

The economic empowerment of minorities is a necessary step for India to realise its full potential. We will ensure that banks will provide institutional credit to minorities without discrimination," -- are some of the promises of Congress aimed at minorities.

The Congress manifesto also says, "We will ensure that the minorities receive their fair share of opportunities in education, healthcare, public employment, public works contracts, skill development, sports and cultural activities without discrimination".

Prime Minister Modi responded by stating -- “The same thinking is reflected in the Congress manifesto as was present in the Muslim League at the time of independence".

Of course, the Congress manifesto has its usual opportunistic approach and pitfalls and could have been handled better, but to call it a Muslim League type of document could be stretching too far.

(Appeasement reflected in Bollywood and many Bachchan films promoted Islam while mocked at Hinduism)
