Speculation is rife about the 'next' possible meeting between a Naga ministerial delegation led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The meeting is likely to happen in next 12-24 hours in New Delhi.
This will be first such crucial meeting after the passage of FNTA draft law in Nagaland assembly. The creation of a new territorial body with adequate legislative and financial powers would change the game for 'eastern Nagas' in a long term basis.
The Modi government has achieved one milestone in a way. But there are issues.
The creation of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA) marks a significant political and administrative step for eastern Nagaland. However, it also opens a larger question for New Delhi: what happens when one part of the wider Naga-inhabited region gets a new arrangement while Nagas in neighbouring Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh continue to wait for answers?
The FNTA can have "political consequences" and this goes beyond beyond Nagaland even as the new measure fulfills a promise and
addresses long-standing development deficits in six eastern districts.
For the BJP-led NDA government, the real test may now be whether this arrangement strengthens the idea of negotiated accommodation — or creates fresh expectations among Naga communities elsewhere. The Ministers (led by CM Rio of NPF) has extend invitation to Amit Shah for a civic reception or an official function related to FNTA.
An interim body is to come soon with 13 members to be nominated by the Governor on the advise of the state cabinet.
BJP lawmaker S Phangnon Konyak (Rajya Sabha) may be the panel which will have three legislators from the eastern part of the state.

But the bigger issue for the Nagas is pending Solution and good governance. There are certain related developments.
Is the RSS worried about its 'credibility' as allegations keep surfacing that the Status Quo vis-a-vis no Solution to the Naga insurgency issue is actually only a money-minting machine for the vested interests ?
This will also be the first meeting of the chief minister Rio with the Home Minister Shah after he (the NPF leader) announced on Aug 15 that a ministerial level committee has been constituted.
There is no transparency about such a panel so far and there is no denial as well.
"What audacity does the Chief Minister have, or in what capacity has he announced it (the committee headed by MoS, Home) and misled the stakeholders on the status of Naga political talks?," questions the newly floated 'Concerned Naga Forum on Nagaland' (CNFN).
Asked to comment about the meeting between Team Rio and the Home Minister; one social worker remarked:
"Frankly, we are worried. It's not Team Nagaland cabinet ... it's Team googly. The ministers may again spring a surprise and give a new spin to the entire peace process.
By now, they are PhD holders on this art... Before 2023 polls they spread NSCN-IM has more weapons ... and within a year; they demanded a ministerial level committee. They have new plans. Worst expected".
