Rahul's 'Bharat Jodo' may not be enough !! Mizoram Congress pens a book to bounce back to power !!

Polls are due in Mizoram later this year. While the Zo-Kuki harassment in Manipur and warm welcome extended to displaced people have almost polarised things in favour of MNF veteran and incumbent Chief Minister, Zoramthanga; the Mizoram Congress seems to be banking on a book to bounce back to power.

Usually in the last few decades, Mizoram voters allow either MNF or Congress to rule for 10 years in a row -- that is two consecutive terms. The Congress under Lal Thanhawla was in power between 2008 and 2018 and prior to him Zoramthanga ruled the roost between 1998 to 2008.

That way Zoramthanga has completed only five years this term and may be lucky yet again to retain power. But the Congress is a fighting outfit in Mizoram even as stalwart Lal Thanhawla, now 85, has retired.

Sources in Aizawl said, the Congress party is turning to an inspiring new book in Lushai,  titled, "That Loh Theih Lohna Bawm" (A Room Where No One Can Be Wrong)". Penned by Mizoram Pradesh Congress president Lalsawta, it essentially lays out a visionary road map to create an Utopian society.

"Driven by a vision of an immaculate, corruption-free government, the Congress party strives to embrace the principles laid out in this book," Lalsawta said.

"It all starts with our unwavering commitment to the collective well-being of the people," he said. Lalsawta was among the first batch of the Mizoram Civil Service (MCS) officials.  He quit the government job to join active politics and was also state finance minister.

Congress MLA Lalrindika Ralte echoed his enthusiasm, emphasizing that "That Loh Theih Lohna Bawm"  truly embodies the core values and vision of the Congress party.  Research scholar David Lalrinchhana, who praised author's profound insights in the book, said,  "Mizoram doesn't need leaders like Donald Trump or Vladimir Putin".

"Mizoram boasts a wealth of capable politicians. Take, for instance, Mizo district council CEM H K Bawichhuaka, who humbly lived in a rented house despite his stature. His integrity sets an example".

"It may be challenging to reform a population of over a million in Mizoram overnight, but the task becomes more manageable when we focus on reforming 40 legislators," he said.

Rahul meets Meghalaya Congress leaders

Party not keen to accommodate TMC's Mukul Sangma for Tura seat

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on move these days either traveling or meeting Congress leaders from various states in order to prepare the grand old party for the big battle of 2024.

As part of the ongoing exercise, on Wednesday, Aug 2, Rahul Gandhi met party leaders from Meghalaya.

"We discussed organisational matters and matters related to 2024 general elections," a source told 'Nagaland Page'. Among others sitting Lok Sabha MP and state unit president Vincent Pala and state general secretary Sanjay Das were part of the delegation.

Sources declined to divulge details. However, it is understood that the Congress leaders in Meghalaya have during last few days conveyed to the central leadership that they are keen to contest both Shillong and Tura Lok Sabha seats.

'There is no question of leaving the Tura seat for Trinamool Congress or for Mukul Sangma of that party. TMC itself is weak force now having suffered desertion and the party is not in a position to bargain with Congress," an informed source said.
