Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been holding meetings with groups of NDA MPs from various regions and states since last week where he has been sharing his ideas on elections.
The Prime Minister has also cautioned lawmakers against speaking out of turn or making comments that could overshadow the coalition's good governance initiatives.
Such a key meeting will be held in the capital on August 7th wherein 32 NDA MPs from both the Houses are expected to meet and interact with the Prime Minister.
"Unlike the past we have a maximum number of central ministers now from the north east. Important central ministers both from within the region and outside are also regularly visiting our eight states," a source said adding, "our meeting with the Prime Minister will be in a great celebration mood".
"Importantly, all NDA allies and NEDA constituents from the region have stuck to the BJP through thick and thin and hence it will be a great occasion to recall our joint achievements," the source said.
In fact, NDA also completes 25 years of its existence wherein both the BJP and the regional parties -- small or big -- have stuck together.
Sources further said in meetings with various groups of NDA lawmakers including from politically crucial states such as Kerala, Telangana and western and eastern UP, the PM reportedly also stated that he wanted to see 'all Rajya Sabha MPs' especially of the BJP contest elections to get a “feel” of sweating out at the polls.
In one such meeting, the Prime Minister stated that for the ruling alliance, the 'biggest caste issue is poverty'. All NDA MPs must direct their struggle and hard work against poverty and must work and highlight in this context of multiple welfare measures initiated by the Centre since 2014.
The PM has been asking the ruling alliance MPs not to feel 'complacent' about possible win in the polls and counseled all to focus on even small but people-oriented issues in respective parliamentary constituencies.
At one such meeting with NDA MPs from Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister reportedly said that the BJP has always honoured the sentiments of regional pride when it came to working closely with the NDA partners.
He said the BJP has in the recent past shared power with regional parties and even gave away chief minister's post(s) to parties such as JD-U or Shiv Sena in Bihar and Maharashtra.
"We shared power with Akalis in Punjab, but we never bargained for the post of deputy CM post in Punjab," the PM stated.
Whether contentious issues like BJP's handling of the Manipur situation will come up for discussions or not remains to be seen. Interestingly, the meeting with north east MPs will come just hours before Lok Sabha will take up the No Confidence Motion against the Modi government from Aug 8th.
